Back to argument

Every thing you said is right, I sell online myself, and it would be costly and take too much time and money, and the imports are coming in like crazy, But nothing is done about it. The super rich just keep getting richer, at the poor mans expense. for instance I wanted to get a tag for my trailer it would cost at least 100 dollars just to put it in my name, the sewer bill is 114.00 use very little, the water bill is 40+ my electric average 200. taxes on house 900+ a year small house. the list goes on and on and they want more. there killing us.

Why are we trying to raise taxes on online business and not trying to reduce tax on MOM & POP'S !?

Taxed Enough Already !!!

Online sellers - Mom & Pop - Brick and Mortar -

ALL ARE TAXED TOO MUCH

I not only feel online selling tax is wrong, but all tax imposed on small business is wrong.

If Mom & Pop - Brick and Mortar are opposed to very small person like me selling on eBay, well perhaps THEY should sell online also.

I'm trying to carve out a small niche business selling old out of date camera equipment. Why punish me?

The money only goes to fuel corrupt politicians anyhow!

Why have Americans been brainwashed that everything should be taxed ! How about reducing government , reducing handouts from Social Security to illegal aliens "FACT" ... also cut all government employee pension benefits that are crippling our country , Read the Constitution and follow it as the law of the land! Promote small business, Get rid of the free trade act and that would give Americans a chance to create jobs , start producing again and stop importing cheap garbage from China and other slave labor countries! Lets get some pride back in being American and following the Dream that with hard work and sweat you can make a good life for your family and end racial division and realize we are ALL Americans and run out people who cause racial divide as a way to get rich. I hope this gets added and let's see how many people are on the same page and not the bilge that the government run media spits out. Thank You

Actually, small mom-and-pop stores are supporting online sales tax collection wholeheartedly. For instance, the National Association of Music Merchants recently sent a letter to Congress in support of the Marketplace Fairness Act. It was signed by 88 state and local trade associations that exist just to represent the interests of small business owners.

Or look at a July 31 op-ed in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch by Dave Overfelt, president of the Missouri Retailers Association. He offers a cogent summary of exactly why local small business owners so strongly support the Marketplace Fairness Act.

This isn't David vs. Goliath. One group of small business owners wants to preserve an advantage it has over another group of small business owners.

DelBianco would have you believe that big retailers like Best Buy and Walmart are trying to crush small online retailers, but the truth is, Best Buy and Walmart really aren't threatened by small online shops.

This is about whether small online shops deserve special treatment that small *local* shops don't receive. There are reasonable arguments on both sides of the issue, but the one that says big companies are trying to crush small companies isn't one of them.

Unfair Advantage? What a MYTH! B&Ms scream same everytime a WalMart/Target move in next door. Even if online did collect tax, they can still outprice a B&M bc of lower overhead. While a B&M fils only one tax form, requiring online (and B&Ms w an online presence) to submit 45 or more tax forms is hardly what I would call fair.

Informative article. I work for McGladrey and there's a white paper on E commerce on the website ( http://bit.ly/HJbEFy ), with information on online retail, defining its scope within the retail industry

If everyone was honest they would declare the amount of purchases they make on-line from out-of-state sellers, but that's not the case. I do not think the Federal government should be involved in this kind of action. It is a state issue not a Federal one. I agree with Steve DelBianco.
