Donald Trump, Debate Moderator, Makes the GOP Look Like a Joke

Making Donald Trump a moderator makes it hard for voters to take the GOP seriously

Back to argument

Donald Trump is a media whore, pure and simple. Being a media whore pays really well, and as a capitalist, I applaud his efforts at self-promotion. However, the country is circling the drain, Greece-style, and the next presidential election will be either the most important in a century (if a candidate who is serious about the Constitution and small government wins) or the last gasp of a former superpower (if the big-government, crony kickbackism, Status Quo wins.)

There is no shortage of "gotcha" "debates," designed solely to create damning sound bytes for the media and opponents. Every candidate is asked a different question, and has 30 seconds to answer. It's ludicrous.

Add Donald Trump's ego--and stated desire to run third-party-- to the standard "gotcha debate" format, and what do you get, exactly? Ratings for Donald Trump, and less credibility for any so-called Republican desperate enough to appear with him.

I'm glad other candidates are following Ron Paul's lead and avoiding the circus.
