Voter ID Laws Protect the Integrity of Our Democracy

IDs are required in everyday life and should be to vote, too

Back to argument

Tell me some examples of this mysterious "voter fraud" that all of you try to claim makes it necessary to pass voter-ID laws and I will support you 100%. Fact is that in-person voter fraud is extremely rare and hard to get away with.

The reason so many Americans support voter-ID laws is because they are too lazy to look up the actual facts. They hear that the law will stop illegals from voting*, or stop the rampant voter fraud* on the news, and of course they think it would be a good idea. But of course they don't actually read the small print under that asterisk (*) that says neither actually happen nowadays, even without the voter-id laws. God politics today are messed up.

IDs cost money. If a photo ID is required at the polls, the ID should be available for free.

The ones against voter ID are out there trying to influence elections illegally

By what means do you propose eliminating voter fraud, if you oppose even a simple identity check at the voting booth? Is the showing of a photo ID too much to demand in return for enjoying the highest honor and privilege that citizenship in a democracy bestows? Does showing an ID card set the bar too high? How minuscule are the duties of citizenship to be made? Exactly nothing?

Here is the rationale to oppose a requirement to identify voters: You count yourself among the voters who don't mind 'winning' an election via fraud. This would be the same segment of the population which don't mind 'earning' their livelihood via theft.

YES - It is obvious we mus insist on voter integrity. Voting is one of the most important things an American citizen can do for their country.
