I'm sorry but the only people who are having second thoughts about california's marijauna laws is the extremely vocal minority that has you and the rest of the ww-2 generation scared of "reefer madness"

Sir, your statement is filled with nothing but innacuracies. You should be ashamed of spouting such tripe when the overwhelming amount of evidence says the direct opposite. Your failed social policies are just that, failed social policies.

Is regulation needed? Of course it is, it is a relatively new industry and until we stop these knee jerk reactions to every negative quality.

It doesn't stop with marijuana people. If people with as myopic of a mentality as Mr Redmans. No hard feelings mr redman, i do not know you personally. I just feel that you are grossly misinformed, or your claims are merely obfuscations for an alterior motive.

Want proof? Then please explain why states with the heaviest anti-marijuana laws have the highest incidences of people driving under the influence of marijuana.

If more laws are what is needed to combat this supposed problem then states like Texas and Alabama should be entirely pot free. However a quick google search will reveal to you that this is not the case.

Spare me your rhetoric, wordsmithing and appeals to emotion. WE HAVE COLD HARD SCIENCE ON OUR SIDE.

You are an idiot and so are others who think like you. The Constitution does not grant the govt to force their choices on us.

Simply false. The illicit market for marijuana provided over 300 BILLION dollars to Mexican drug cartels. Its the black market that drives crime. The demand does not go away on the shuttering of CA's medical marijuana providers. Strong local and state regulation in CA would keep the money out of the hands of the cartels and IN the local economy.

CA needs a strong state regulatory system, similar to Colorado's. In CO, marijuana businesses operate openly for profit, under a highly regulated two-tier licensing scheme (separate state and local licensing). Localities can "opt-out" by local vote or ordinance, choosing to not allow MMJ businesses, so it remains a locally controlled issue. If the localities chose to allow Medical Marijuana Centers (MMCs) and/or grow facilities, they are both state and locally licensed, similar to liquor. In Colorado, MMCs, owned only by Colorado residents, provide a Colorado-grown product to Colorado resident patients, authorized by Colorado doctors. Local safe access, without the unintended consequence of supporting murderous drug gangs. Sounds much better to me.

Where is the eveidence that dispensaries have increased crime...crime is down overall in California and in the United States for that matter...I call bs. Besides government can not tell me what I can and cannot put into my body.

I believe it is far more important to protect America's children from the lies and deceit spewing from America's corporate fascist owned federal government.

Cannabis, a non toxic plant that has been an integral part of humanity for thousands of years... Look up Popular Mechanics Feb 1938 "The New Billion Dollar Crop", teach the children these facts, NOT the lies of Redman or any other corporate fascist chasing a non toxic plant.

The logic you use in forming your position is awful. Have you ever thought there was an alternate cause for more people entering treatment for marijuana? For example when someone is arrested for possession they can chose to go to rehab instead of other more severe punishments. O yea, Incase you didn't know alcohol is connected to murders, muggings, and crime as well. Hell if were going to use logic like yours people should not wear expensive watches either because there is a connection between wearing an expensive watch and being a victim of crime. It also seems like you have vested interest in your position. Last I checked your business brings in over 5,000,000 a year treating marijuana "addicts." If these polices change your pockets will be a little lighter wont they? I see right through your circular logic and straw man tactics, and so do other educated people.

Either you have financial interests in keeping illegal or the mexican drug cartels are holding a gun to your head.

Mrs. Hill of ID 10:03AM October 27, 2011

your method of protecting children ruins the lives of more children than marijuana ever could

how many kids get criminal records, how many have parents in prison (either for marijuana directly or for parole violations), how many kids get shuffled into the prison system, how many kids die from doing the "responsible" thing and drinking alcohol instead

chad of TX 3:05AM October 27, 2011

As far as the title is concerned, protecting kids from pot I find demeaning to a child's intelligence. Anyone who can craft a smoking device is surely smart enough to know what they are going to smoke. And if family members are to blame, well, that's a failure on their part.

If it is a fact that crime increases because of medical marijuana dispensaries, it is a good idea for us to look at the underlying causes of this phenomena. What seperates marijuana (cannabis), from prescription drugs? As far as the science is concerned- it is not directly lethal in and of itself, and many people enjoy it. It also isn't a pill. So what is it people?

Perhaps it's time to have the dispensaries grow their own and then see what happens. That takes the domestic growing out of the equation as well as makes it easier to provide relevant information.

I would like to know how many life fights for children the have consumed a cannabis product have died?

I would like to know how many people have died from this seed bearing herb since CA has made it legal for medicinal use "AGAIN" ?
