I totally agree with Mr. Doggett. I mean, Lynette hits the nail on the head when she says, "Please be aware that this country didn't suddenly become filled with lazy folks who don't want to work." I am 54 now with a bachelor's degree and 2 professional certificates. Going back to school for a master's seems to not be the answer as even grads with master's can't get jobs, as well as the fact that when I do finish a master's, I would be about 56 or older. Who is going to hire an almost 60 yr old??? Makes no sense. So I am just looking for any job. Sure wish I was 20 years younger. It would be much clearer to me then. But I am certain I am not in the minority; there are many more older 'workers' like me who lost their jobs through no fault of their own. I shudder to think about the drain on society that will happen when all of us have drained all our 401s, savings, had houses foreclosed and have nothing left. What will become of us in our old age. I guess society might take care of us then. We'll all be on medicare and in low income housing. Some of us lucky few may have children who will take us in since that may be the only option as we will have nothing left. Also, I predict the suicide rates will increase as will the line at the food stamp office and requests for medicaid. No one wants to be on unemployment; you cannot survive on unemployment.

I have been out of UI benefits since last December. I now have to focus on the immediate attainment of income to survive, that means less time for me to actually look for a job that would pay into the system, or provide health insurance. The money I make goes directly to transportation, insurance, gas and food. If there is a job fair during the time I have to work at an odd job, there is no choice. Gas is conserved for work. I have to borrow money for things like suit cleaning, resume paper and ink etc. The gamble with the little money I have right now is forced on the sure thing, cash in hand for the next meal. UI benefits actually gave me some space to look for work, now there is none.

I wonder what is going to happen in about 10 years when all of us in the class D economy are still not paying into the system, because we have nothing left? Can't tax folks if they have nothing to take, no #SS , the tab that the states will pick up will be enormous from hospitals that can not recoup funds from people that walk in off the street with no money or insurance. I say we are seeing the tip of the iceberg. If you do not invest in your own countries working class, you are going to collapse. I just hope I am not around to see it.
