Work Permits for Young Immigrants Steal Jobs From Americans

President Obama's policy will hurt to an already struggling workforce

Back to argument

Emma: This has NOTHING to do with 'young Mexicans'. This is about the toll that illegal immigration and Obama's actions are taking on Americans. With all your concern and compassion for the plight of illegals, where is that same compassion and care for your fellow citizens who are struggling the most in this economic climate now made exponentially worse by the addition of nearly one million people permitted to compete for the few jobs out there? This influx into the job market will depress wages, drive up the unemployment rate and leave so many AMERICAN young people in dire straits. Can you be so naive as to believe that they will not suffer as a result of Obama's decision? NO amnesty until the borders are secure, birthright citizenship and chain migration are abolished and our laws are forever and consistently enforced, no exceptions. We are the only country on the planet whose citizens are condemned for the supremely reasonable expectation that our sovereignty be respected and our laws enforced.

Obama wants to have total control...supreme dictator. I fault our congress for giving him a bye on constitutional violations. They must be frightened to death.

I want to know under the Presidents policy, if two people are being considered for the same job who gets it, the unemployed US citizen, or the illegal alien grant deferred status and work authorization.

NO: President Obama's immigration policy violates constitutional order. Also, this is a political maneuver to gain votes of the hispanic community.

I love that our governing bodies recognize that we have all these problems but will not do anything to fix or stop them. We have a immigration problem but let's not do the right thing to correct it, but if a state trys lets sue them for trying to uphold laws we as the goverment wont uphold!! We have a illegal alien problem but lets make it possible for them to stay here and take jobs and money that they will send back home to Mexico. Let say they can stay here if they are not criminals but yet being here illegal makes them criminals. I just hope someone in our beloved goverment get their head out of thier a** and starts making decisions that help our country. And lastly I have a question for all those Democrats out of work that lost thier jobs to a illegal alien. Hows your savior working out for you?

Americans who fell threatened by poor Mexicans must be real losers. What does it say about you own qualifications? If you had bothered to acquire some marketable skills, you would not be outcompeted by immigrants from the Third World.

Emma of NY 3:47PM June 19, 2012

I feel as if President Obama is doing the right thing. He should allow younger immigrant that have been brought here not on their own will but were made to come because they have no other choice.

Tiffany Mendez of GA 3:46PM June 19, 2012

Can't compete for a job with an illegal alien? You made some pretty poor choices. Why do teabaggers believe in meritocracy except when it comes to people who have lived here their entire lives but whose parents brought them over at no fault of their own. Whatever happened to "Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses..."? You people speak out of both sides of your mouth, and you don't promote the virtues of opportunity that made our country so great. Immigration is at something like a multi-decade low now, yet anti-immigrant sentiment still runs so high. And fyi - Farmworkers are still in great demand. Pretty much the only people that will do them are latin immigrants, and prisoners. Ask any farmer. I am one.

It saddens me to see how some people are so close minded and cold hearted. They see only what they want to see and no one will change their minds. Treat others as you would want them to treat you.

NO amnasty for any one here illegal. PERIOD.
