President Obama's policy will hurt to an already struggling workforce

How is it taking away jobs? Both will have the same opportunities when looking for a job its not like they're just giving jobs away to them. Just another excuse people use to be lazy and not get a job.

I am a 50 year old single mother of a teenage high school student. I have a son who is currently serving in the U.S. Military. I was turned down for a job yesterday, because I did not speak Spanish; those were the exact words of the recruiter. Yes folks, that is correct, and welcome to Texas, this is our reality down here. We Americans are losing jobs to immigrants because we don’t speak their native languages.

Why should I have to be forced to speak Spanish when I am trying to get a job in the United States of America two miles down the road from my home in Houston. Immigrants who wish to reside in the U.S.A. need to learn English, plain and simple, not the other way around. If the tables were turned and Ms. Linda from Texas moved to Mexico, I highly doubt that the entire country of Mexico is going to roll out the red carpet for me, and start speaking english on my behalf.

I am angry that the immigrants here in Texas are reaping the benefits that the U.S. Government allows them, and then having them take advantage of the system, as they work for cash in my neighborhood selling tamales door-to-door, grooming lawns, and cleaning pools, and more. Guess what, those immigrants are laughing all the way to the bank, driving shinny new trucks that they can afford as they are avoiding paying income taxes like everyone else.

I came into hard times a few months ago due to my daughter’s health. I am struggling to survive and I don’t qualify for any benefits. Let me repeat that, I don’t qualify for ANY BENEFITS. I am a U.S. Citizen, white race, and I don’t qualify for squat. I am behind on my mortgage payments, my cupboards are near empty, my electric bill is due on August 7th, and did I mention that my water is being shut off at the end of business day today.

I have been trying to get a job for months; I have a very good resume and have always been a hard worker. Please tell me why immigrants are getting jobs in my neighborhood, but I can’t even seem to get a single job offer, not even for half of what I was previously making. I welcome you to take a look through the employment ads, see for yourself how many positions require applicants to be bilingual, which limits the number of jobs I qualify for and greatly increases the Latino job market. Take a drive through Houston and get a glimpse for yourself, if you don’t believe my words.

We all know you can make you're argument on paper by shuffling numbers to make it appear that the illegal immigrants are helping the economy.

Say what you want, because we all know that's crap.

Im a illegal and got a paying job but i rarely see white people not because we have taken all the spots. Americans just not want to work were the raza works.

Are you kidding me? Many of these children have been in this country since they were too young to talk. It is true their parents should not have brought them over illegally but it doesn't change the fact that they are here. Many do not know any other way of life than the life here in the United States of America. As far as taking American jobs, give me a break. Many of the jobs the illegal immigrants have are jobs that most Americans refuse to do. These graduates and future graduates go to the same schools that the US citizens go to. Most have attended school since Kindergarten. Many are highly intelligent and as it stands are destined to work in the fields for little money without benefits. Let them get their work permit. To send them back to a country that they do not know anything about could potentially ruin their life. We spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to help children from other countries that have never even seen the United States but we don't want to help those who live right here now. That seems very double standard.

@Ed Willcox... "arbitrary line"?? You CAN'T be that ignorant can you? The border between Mexico and the United States is NOT 'arbitrary'. It's what DIVIDES one country from the OTHER. Americans have fought and died for that 'arbitrary' line!

If you really believe that illegal immigration is OK, why don't you sneak into Mexico and find out how 'welcome' you'll be THERE? I guarantee you that when you're found out the difference between THEIR laws and OUR laws will be DRASTICALLY different! They aren't 'tolerant' of illegals, not ONE tiny bit! I DARE you to go find out!! But Mexico expects the U.S. to be tolerant, to allow their people who sneak in here to be WELCOMED in the U.S., take American jobs, drive on our highways, use OUR Social Security numbers, bog down OUR emergency rooms, educate THEIR children on OUR taxes, etc and etc., and ALL with out complaining or trying to stop them.

YOU do the same in reverse by going into their country illegally and then comment again about how they deserve all the benefits of freedom in our country while you rot in THEIR jails. Get REAL.

Joanne of IL 2:43AM July 20, 2012

immigrants should be the least of your concerns, instead, anger should be directed to the American companies employing thousands of people across the globe. Think about it, the GOP is trying to make you direct your anger at the wrong target! You should focus on companies such as Apple, Ralph Lauren, Sony who pay very little money to manufacturer a product making a huge profit selling it back on the US.

Replacing an immigrant at the work place means that you'll be taking home about 20K to 30K a year. Making companies bring jobs home from oversees will allow you to have a decent job.

Wake up and look at the whole picture!!

John of CA 6:52PM July 14, 2012

These "illegal immigrants" are not taking any jobs away from anyone. If someone is more qualified for a job than you, they deserve that job, not you. Just because you were born on one side of an arbitrary line, you are somehow better than someone who was born on the other side, and then brought across that line with no choice in the matter? Shut up and work harder, better yourself if you want to compete in the job market. Don't blame illegal immigration, the economy, or anything else for your own failure.

Ed Willcox of CA 11:43PM July 10, 2012

Oposed,NOTHING for UNDOCUMENTED workers.Legal workers yes.Why should the illegals be taking jobs from the legal? That makes as much sence as as the drug war forcing Americans to buy pot from Afganastan instead of growing their own.

curtis echols of AR 1:41AM July 10, 2012

Just because we are harder workers and deserve the jobs more than a slob on his couch, hoping a job that requires no skills and pays well, will somehow appear just by sitting around, does not make us bad people, we did not choose to come to this country, we were children, we have grown up here being shunned for something that we had no power over, our family just wanted us to have a better future, most illegal immigrants take jobs that americans don't even want, they work hard in poor paying jobs and if they didn't do them no one else would. But if they do work at a prestigious job position, it is only because they are more deserving and have earned it through hard work.

Christian Trejo of OR 8:06PM July 09, 2012

NO. Illegal in any sense of the word is Illegal. There are channels to enter this country legally. If I steal a car and exhibit good behavior with it for 5 years, can I keep it? Obama is pandering to the Hispanic community to garner votes, plain and simple.
