Arguments for the Legalization of Marijuana Don't Stand Up

Prevention, treatment, and law enforcement are effectively fighting drug use

Back to argument

Since Nixon ramped up the WOD, drugs are more readily available and much more potent than they were back then. Rates of drug use and abuse have held steady overall, recognizing that those rates are cyclical to some extent, and always have been. The only change that I've seen is that fewer and fewer people buy into the rhetoric of those who promote prohibition and make their living from it. The war on drugs was ground in dishonesty, and that alone doomed it to failure.

To sum it up, the War on drugs has failed for over 40 years, wasted a trillion Taxpayer Dollar, Systemically criminalize tens of Millions of our fellow Americans for victimless "Crimes" all because of laws created from Propagandized fears. The WoD's will end when it's folly gets more widely exposed. Thanks to the Internet, they govt and its' agencies which benefit from the WoD's cannot lie w/o getting called out for it! Ask Leonhart who got embarrassed testifying in Congress.

We do not want marijuana to be legalized. Better the way it is than have the government regulate it. Been having to keep it underground since 69, keep it the way things are except legal to posses ,and to grow up to three plants.

The 'Drug War' is a failed public policy. It has turned into nothing more than a jobs program in a self perpetuating industry that relies on taking items of value from small time cannabis users, many using and growing legally under their state law.

Just because Mr. Evans says it's true does not mean it really is. The war on drugs has been a catastrophe for society not a "good social policy". We have more citizens in prison than ANY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD...HELLO !!!

Before hemp was criminalized it was barely on the radar as a recreational drug, the law against it made it popular...forbidden fruit. Tobacco killed my Uncle, my Father & my Brother. They made bad choices & paid the price. I don't know of ANYONE who's died from smokin' dope !

This is a joke right "marijuana use has decreased over 50%"that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. This is the same strategy used in the cold war , make it seem that you are winning so you can try and gain support , if anything marijuana use is at the highest point (no pun intended) it has been for a while not to mention drug arrests have been also at an ultimate high. Aboslutly ludicrous.
