YES - DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW!! The US Economy has been held hostage long enough by these self-proclaimed "environmentalists" who spread lies and misinformation (propaganda) to the public. No wildlife lives in this area. It is remote and very cold. Wake up America! Enough is enough! Gas prices are too high! We have enough resources at home! Kick the greenies out and take control of our economy!

It is NEVER time to drill in ANWAR. We have the technology to produce engines with greater gas mileage efficiency. WHY DONT WE DO THAT? WHY???

Mr Hastings, I am just wonder who from Shell Oil wrote this piece for you. Please bare in mind that energy is not the only consideration here. And tell me why we should continue to develop an energy source that is gradually going to suffocate us and destroy life as we know it on this planet.

Michael Monahan of WA 2:34PM November 07, 2011

First of all, the Federal Gov'ment needs to get out of "Green Energy" speculation business, using taxpayer money. They need to succeed or fail on their merit.

Second, proven available resources of Domestic production capability needs to come on line, NOW. The oil and gas industry IS exploring alternative energy as we speak. As soon as it is profitable (a naughty word) I'm sure it will come on line.

With oil in N. Dakota, why risk animal life, future oil spills, leaks and land contamination? It just goes on and on... will we ever learn from our mistakes? Doesn't look like it.

Eileen of WA 10:36AM November 07, 2011

Thank you Congressman Hastings, for putting forth a common-sense solution to provide the energy and jobs that America needs.

Nancy of WA 12:35AM November 07, 2011

There is enough oil in North Eastern and Western North Dakota , which they are drilling right now, to run the country for decades. This US Gov. is so SCREWED up, They all need to take a long walk on a SHORT PIER!! There is more barrels there than any where else.Harold Hand or Ham is drilling it. Son of a share cropper. 24 BILLION Barrels. Its bigger than any thing in North America.

Sue Jensen of WA 7:11PM November 06, 2011

To everyone who is outspoken about the reasonable development of oil and gas in remote arctic locations such as ANWR: Please set an example for the rest of us. Please stop using electricity in all forms; all internal combustion engines, including airplanes, motorcycles and lawnmowers (and, of course, automobiles); please stop using any form of hydrocarbon-based plastics; and please immediately cease using any form of mechanical device that requires hydrocarbon-based lubricants. We urge you to substitute animal and vegetable sources for any such needs in the future.

I'm with Dan - we need to keep our heads buried deep so we can preserve Alaska's fragile bears and their habitats. Oil exploiters are thugs, bears need hugs. Exploit the 48 and keep Alaska perfect.
