Forget 10 Years--Drilling ANWR Would Pay Off Right Away

It's time to get America to work building infrastructure and producing more of its own oil

NO

-End oil dependence from foreign supply?

Based on the U.S. oil consumption, there's only enough oil supply there to last 6-24 months.

-Strict oil drilling guidelines?

Is there really such a thing. Time and time again oil drilling has caused massive environmental damage. We should all know by now that when it comes to corporations, all gloves are off. Think Exxon Valdez and more recently BP. Please tell me you are not gullible enough to believe those BP commercials stating that the Gulf Coast has recovered and stronger than ever.

-Think of the environment before you decide that the short term monetary gains are worth the damage you leave the future generations with. Think of your children and grand children and those that follow.

He never talks about the animals, he took only one side his whole argument and didn't concede once. There needs to be answers to more than just the economic part, (which he seems to know) but the science part too. Which this guy falied to do so.

If you support energy from the Middle East you are supporting terrorist who want to harm our country and piss on The Constitution itself

If they could these Middle East Muslims would grab The Constitution to pee all over it which everyone on here would call it *art* patting each other on the back while hating those who support as well as stand by The Constitution principles that founded our country.

Well like the bible said. Judge em by the fruit they bear.

Do people NOT know how to read?

It clearly says less then 3 percent will be used and one thing this article didn't mention is these companies have computers that can bounce quite deep before they even BEGIN to drill so they don't have to guesstimate where to drill seriously reducing oil wells.

Plus they can drill sideways as well.

If you had a company that sold widgets and wanted to invest into Shell right now would be a bad time because the environMENTALists keep blocking them from drilling so you will LOSE any money you put in.

However if they drill the money you put in as an investor will double next year so you pull out more then you deposited.

Even just ANNOUNCING you will drill without actually DOING anything for the next year will cause investors to put more money in causing gas prices to fall for that year.

When George Bush allowed offshore drilling almost instantly gas prices fell to 2$ a gallon and as soon as Obama blocked off shore drilling gas prices soared thru the roof.

These comments below should be removed for the liberal bias and for supporting terrorism from the Middle East.

Drilling in ANWR is not the answer for sure. Only few people will will benefit from drilling, and the consequences are great. We need something better than fossil fuels.

Jimmy Carter set the land aside for oil exploration. Doesn't that imply that there would be drilling if oil is discovered?

Rob of MA 9:52PM March 03, 2012

Yes - with contingencies Because there is no reason not to.

Cont #1 - done with strict/proper drilling guidelines

Cont #2 - All oil will go to american mainland refineries, fuel to be sold ONLY in the 52 states.

Cont #3 - Every drop of oil/Natgas that comes out of there will have a fee on it to go DIRECTLY to a renewable energy research sovereign fund( not to be borrowed from like other entitlement funds in the past *cough*SS/MEDICARE*cough)

I strongly support Congressman Hastings comments. Technology has improved to the point that any negative environmental impact is minimal and we are talking about such a small area that was specifically set aside for this use. Consumers are tired of such one-sided management of our resources that drives up the cost of energy, hurting our economy by the loss of jobs and economic growth. We should be creating this economic growth within America for Americans. It is the right thing to do.

No - Stop riding on the coattail of partial truths. Jimmy Carter did not set aside this land for drilling.
