Political Win for Barack Obama Will Only Excite the GOP

Republicans will oppose healthcare law as "the largest tax increase in history"

If in fact the supreme court ruling helps Romney win then people certainly don't understand that health care costs are greatly behind what is ruining this country financially. We were already paying for the un and under insured before the ACA (let's call it what the law actually is kids). We pay higher insurance rates as a country because we don't insure our citizens. We pay more for all medical care across the board because the uninsured (mostly people who work but their employers don't provide health care) aren't able to pay their medical bills which translates in providers charging more for services. It is often very frustrating how little we as a country try to understand all aspects of a law. WE don't like it so we get rid of it. We are like a country of adolescents unable to make good longterm decisions that are in our ultlimate best interest.

This is what is annoying about politics. For months liberals have been screaming how a 5-4 split decision would be "judical extremism" and "judical activism".

So, what do they call todays 5-4 split decision? Surely it must still be "judical extremism" and "judical activism"........

How can a 5-4 split be evil if you lose, but perfectly OK if you win?

Probably in the same way that the mandate survived by being called a tax, but Obama will continue to tell us "it's not a tax".........

Remember November 2010. Prof Brown is correct.

If any among you blognoscenti think the Average American Voter can remember this - or anything else - for longer than a news cycle you are, I believe, sadly mistaken. For either side, this is a three day story at best and will be overtaken by whatever shiny objects appear next week.

Who cares what Repubs think at all? Their number one goal is to beat Obama, not lookout fir the country. Had this been found unconstitutional they would have said his first term failed, it passed and so now theyre doing what they do on every issue SPIN & TRICK RELIGIOUS GUN NUTS INTO VITING AGAINST THEIR INTERESTS.

Republicans should rejoice that the Supreme Court upheld their own idea for the individual mandate. It was their major contribution to the success of the Affordable Care Act. So, lift a glass, boys!

And you may continue calling it Obamacare, to. US voters for generations will thank President Obama for his leadership in reforming the disaster that was health insurance in the USA.

Yeah, excite them into a coma. More likely, the alte kakers will have strokes and need to rely on the ACA to live.

If anything, I'd say, "Go long Depends." There will be a shortage in the GOP-laden districts.

Why is this clown lying about "raising incredible amounts of money" as if it were a consequence and not a precedent. Let them waste their money on losers like Newt and Perry. Liberals aren't stupid enough to waste their ammo or money - unlike some casino owners I could name. And we will do what is right for ALL Americans, not just the rich, privileged, and obsessively greedy.

On what basis does this partisan hack justify the censorious assertion the "Obama would do well to rein in his excitement"? Is she relying on the same folks who produced and broadcast, nationwide, the completely wrong broadcast by FOX NEWS that the ACA was overturned?

Fox News employees must be extremely grateful that there is no IQ test, nor any test for truthfulness or moral integrity truthfulness required by the Murdock organization. (There may be. If you fail, you get a job offer.)

I think this article is correct - it certainly has made me decide to change from voting 3rd party to voting republican this time.

As to ending "pre-existing...barring insurers from setting a dollar limit on health coverage payouts, and requires them to cover preventative care at no additional cost to consumers", I would have to suggest that only a person with no understanding of the insurance business (or basic math) could arrive at such a conclusion.

I had 7 years experience in the medical insurnace field, working for the government insurance programs (Medicare / Medicaid). You CAN NOT require insurance companies to spend billions more dollars a year, and expect that the price for consumers will not rise. Basic math argues against this, as does common sense.

Insurance companies stay in business by betting that the amount of money they pay out will be less than the amount paid in by the pool of insured. In other words, the business works by gambling - much like a casino. New beneficiaries with pre-existing conditions are a guaranteed loss. Removing limits to payout guarantee still more losses. Preventative care is a guaranteed loss in some cases (which is why insurance costs rose in the 90s when HMOs were introduced).

The bottom line mathmatically is that when you force companies to take guaranteed losses, they must raise prices to stay profitable. If they don't, they will go out of business and lay of thousands (or tens of thousands) of employees. That is basic math. To suggest that these companies will be forced by law to operate at a loss and that the costs will not be passed on to end users is pure naivete.

The decision by the USSC was devastating. Roberts is a turncoats, a Benedict Arnold. This nation is on its way to socialist and destroying the First Amendment. This will bankrupt this country even more than it is in debt now and owes so much to China; our deficit is so very high that the grandchildren's children will still be paying for our folly. Those who elected the socialist Obama should be ashamed. They have changed our nation for the worse forever. We will become a second rate nation in a short time. The future U.S. citizens deserved better.
