Tax Rates Are Fair; Deductions, Loopholes, and Exemptions Are Not

On rates alone, the rich pay their fair share; but don't forget about the deductions and exemptions

Why not just tax everyone at 25% straight across the board and stop ridiculous government spending? That seems fair. Everyone should be required to contribute if they are healthy and under age 65. That seems fair.

Hi, what deductions and exemptions are you referring to? The government somehow views me as rich, which I find interesting. My wife and I have student loans from college and grad school that we are not allowed to deduct. Nor can we contribute to a deductible ira. Since we graduated only a few years ago, we do not have enough money for a down payment on a house and do not have kids yet. Please tell me what my fair share is?

I agree that the rich do not pay their share of taxes. I really don't understand their selfishness. The rich make so much money, they wouldn't miss the tax money they should pay.

To give you an idea of the thoughts of rich people - I read a survey completed by AARP - about the amount of money needed for retirement. Some of the people interviewed were very rich. They said they would have $78 million dollars at retirement and were concerned that this wouldn't be enough. I couldn't believe what I was reading.

And so it goes. Everyone focus' on rich or poor, who has and who doesn't. Why don't we focus on the problem and that is the way individuals are taxed in this country. This country could collect enough taxes and eliminate a burden on the entire population by eliminating the current tax system with a more equality system such as the fair tax. No expemtions, no brackets, no IRS. Just simply pay for what you use or buy. The biggest consumers end up paying the most whether they are citizens of the U.S. or not, whether they currently hide their income or get it illegally, they all still pay their share based on their wants, which they cannot escape. This is such as simple system, but like air doesn't make anyone any money. So in essence the people that make the most noise about the rich not paying their fair share are the same ones that keep churning this vague, large tax system, which is the injustice provided to us all by them.

I agree completely with this, the rich hire people to find loopholes in the system which allow the rich to pay less. They also hire lobbyists to get senators and representatives to pass thousands of laws that give the rich even more loopholes.

BAMMMMM!!!!
