Defense Spending Not to Blame for Deficit

The solution to the debt crisis lies in entitlements and taxes, not the military budget

Back to argument

Military expenditures are wrong. The US must have a smaller, much less expensive army but smart to keep up with our defense. The US military spends too much so the US cant grow the way everyone expects. Defense is always the sacred cow where nobody wants to mess around due to the "patriotism attitud" used by merchants of war who are interested in selling more making more even when there is a huge deficit and an economic crisis. Money has to be better spent than million dollar rockets that are never fired, machinguns that are replaced without one shot fired and so on...

Reducing the military means savings for the treasury capability to invest in other areas less deficit, less corruption, baseless adquisitions, inflating swiss bank accounts and having more problems with unemplyment and poverty in the us

Tax more, cut entitlements, and keep a military budget equaling 1.4 trillion! It is 6 times larger than China...The United States and her allies account for 75% of all military expenditures in the world. I might could understand if you were like 'well, we need to cut entitlements AS WELL' but no, you say we need this bloated military budget- therefore the debt must be paid by taxes and cutting social benefits. You work for a defense group...No conflict of interest there....Have some integrity.

On 17November2011, my daily blog was entitled:

PRESIDENT OBAMA...ARE YOU CRAZY, STUPID, GULLIBLE OR WHAT?

which can be accessed at:

MInd you, I'm a fan of our President. We were both born in Honolulu and, I, too, have a valid birth certificate. As much as that title seems inflammatory, I will still vote for him next year.

However, we are provoking China by sending 2500 Marines to Australia. We should be REDUCING THE 60,000 troops we now have in Japan and Korea. We won those wars. We should also be bringing home most of the 54,000 American military in Germany. We also won that war.

So, I keep sending these HuffPo messages to President Obama, hoping someone on his staff will take note and, perhaps, show it to him. Hasn't worked yet, but maybe the U.S. News and World Report has more credibility.
