Hollywood Studios Say No to D.C. Dramas
By Nikki Schwab, Washington Whispers
Sorry, Washington wonks. Just because reality TV loves the District—with versions of MTV's The Real World and Bravo's Real Housewives franchises currently filming here—that doesn't mean a revival of hard-hitting policy-rich dramas à la The West Wing are next. "I think there's actually been a move away from doing controversial shows," says Neal Baer, executive producer for Law & Order SVU. "I think there has been a real change since shows like NYPD Blue and ER and West Wing." Studios now seem to frown on wonky, dramatic policy tussles. "I think that's because there's a fear that the audience might not like it," the producer says.

You wrote, "Bad that presumed liberals in the entertainment business may now be afraid they might offend some conservatives." When did this ever happen??? NEVER! Hollywood lives for offending conservatives!
Coincidental?
Now that Obama is in the White House, Hollywood would never dare produce a political show! Critical D.C. political shows are reserved for slamming the republicans, not the messiah.
Good and bad
Good that we don't have the confusion of a faux White House on TV, especially in mental competition with the currently historic Obama administration. Bad that presumed liberals in the entertainment business may now be afraid they might offend some conservatives.
"The West Wing", while well-produced and well-acted, was always a tad silly on some level.
