It is a pittiful state of afairs when science becomes the pawn of politics. When peer reveiw is cast aside for the dollar. It is also amusing that global warming became global climate change at about the same time that the temperture datasets didn't support the global warming claim anymore.The ones who will gain $$ the most are sceaming the loudest about global climate change.

CO2 heavier than oxygen

Henry, Yes, CO2 is heavier than oxygen. However, it mixes. The CO2 in a fire extinguisher is in an enclosed container partly because if it was in an open container you wouldn't have any to put a fire out. The concentrated amount of CO2 in the fire extinguisher displaces oxygen and that's what puts out the fire. If you return to the same area in a short amount of time and strike a match where the CO2 was just used, the match will fire up because the CO2 has "mixed" with air and oxygen has returned. Mr. Leighton Steward, and those who say global warming is natural, and those who say humans have contributed to global warming - they all know this. That is why Mr. Steward talks about PPM or Parts Per Million. Methane, nitrousoxide and other gasses are also GHG. As a GHG, methane is pound for pound much worse than CO2. There is much more CO2 in the air than methane - unless you're standing downwind from a cow at the wrong time. If you can see gas rising in Hereford, Texas, why is it rising? Why doesn't methane, which also has "weight," fall to the ground and stay there? If gasses, other than oxygen, fell to the ground and stayed there, would we have any oxygen to breath? Oh, if you stand behind one of those cows be carefull when you light a match - there might not be enough CO2 present to counter the possible chemical reaction.

GLOBAL WARMING

Carbon Dioxide is not the reason of warming- Try Methane gas especially rising from Stockyards, who pens up thousands of cattle in one small area awaiting slaughter.

Try the area around Hereford Texas for example. On a Hot day you can see the gas and other pollutants rising from 50-60 miles away, the smell reaches you at around 20-30 miles.

Or try anything else, now any idiot should know that CO2 is heavier than air...I would like someone to explain how the CO2 got into our atmosphere and caused this problem.

Seems to me this is what should be discussed before any action claiming such is taken.

I tend to believe if there is a Global Warming, Carbon Dioxide is not the culpit.

I also do not believe the Current Political administration has put out Global Warming using CO2 as a scare tactic, this was put out long before the current batch of goof balls arrived on the scene. I do know however that our earth is polluted in many ways, I just think maybe we are looking in the wrong place... Someone should also explain that the "SMOG" you see hanging over Los Angeles and other large cities of the world is not Carbon Dioxide but SMOKE and should not be "Breathed", a good Rain will take care of that if it arrives in time to keep us from Choking.

Jason - ExxonMobil (exxonmobil.com) agrees with the 2007 IPCC report. ExxonMobil is not one of the "...governments of the world." ExxonMobil is not liberal media, it is not left-radical anything. ExxonMobil, on its official corporate web-site, continues to state it is proud of its lead scientists who share in the 2007 collective Nobel Peace Prize. Some other major oil corporations who also state that the IPCC is stating the truth include Shell, BP Oil and Chevron. These oil corporations have invested major ammounts of funding in scientific research on the subject. It appears they have followed the path that the truth has led them to.

Global Warming as a Solar Warming Coverup

So Jason, what you're saying is that the cause of global warming is an increase in water vapor which is caused by global warming, which is caused by the sun getting hotter? So what you're implying the sun is getting hotter and "global warming" is actually coverup of "solar warming"?

Submarine CO2 ? what does that have to do with AGW!

What does that have to do with global warming? Absolutely nothing. It is a fact that there is a point where CO2 will not absorb any more IR regardless how saturated the atmosphere gets. The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is minuscule and it is impossible for it to be causing the warming effects & cooling affects that have been noted ( but these warming effects are under doubt now). The amount we pump in to the atmosphere compared to what gets pumped in to the atmosphere naturally is minuscule and that is also a fact.

So the question which should be asked is what is causing climate change as it clearly can not be carbon dioxide as it is physically impossible i.e. defies the laws of physics. The most likely cause is a combination of water vapour ( H20 vapour absorbs more IR then CO2 and is more abundant) and increased solar activity.

I am absolutely disgusted by the governments of the world trying to pass this nonsense off, the whole AGW theory is rubbish and lacks any real firm footing. Carbon emissions are not causing climate change and they have failed to investigate the real causes.

Dave of FL: Yes, CO2 is an essential of plant growth (6th grade science lesson.) Yes, more CO2 pumped into an enclosed greenhouse causes selected plants to flourish. A smart greenhouse operation will purchase only up to the extra amount that the selected plant will absorb. Purchasing more CO2 than that ammount is a waste of money. Plants have a mechanism that tells them when they're full of CO2. Outdoors, without that greenhouse ceiling, things are differant. CO2, even though its heavier than oxygen, mixes with oxygen and doesn't stay close to the ground. If it were true that producing more CO2 would make the earth greener, that would include all of the weeds and plants like poison ivy, poison oak and poison sumac. We don't get to tell God how it's going to work. We don't get to tell God that the oceans won't become acidic. Maybe we should build vast green houses close to coal burning electrical producing facilities, capture some of the CO2 and pump it into the greenhouses. Have fun burning your tires, don't worry, your feet won't get wet.

Bandwagon Jumpers

It has been as though if you don't use the term "green" you are a cancer to the world. It just so happens, that common sense has more often than not prevailed over extreme predictions of Armageddon. How many times has science been proven wrong, then right , whoops, no wrong again on 20 year studies, then ten year, then, 5, then what really happens is some where in between. There are too many people in this world that have a need to be led around and need to belong to the latest rage. Come on, solar activity can cause all sorts of things that we can never control. Shorelines have risen and fallen throughout time yet we are so arrogant that just because things seem to be happening in our time, we believe it happens because of us, and never mind that there is an immensely complicated universe out there in which this planet exists. Yet, we think are projections hinge on our behavior and that we can change the universal order of things. How arrogant! Come on people think for yourselves. CO2 is an essential of plant growth. The sun does affect our planet. People have a go along with the crowd mentality, be the first on their block to own a Prius. If I see another rash of "Go Green" across the world without more consideration OF THE OTHER SIDE I think I'll burn a couple of tires and stand on my dock to see if the water rises!

I so agree with the fact that global warming is not cuased by CO2,as a matter of a fact i think that global warming isnt real.

Really all dat global warming is a bunch of bs,because if you think about the earhts tempature changes,depending on many different factors,such as the location,and the region. The only reason people think that global warming is real is because, sciencetist make it seeem like it is. Because of the fact that there in a higher position(they know more) than the untraind people who dont know anything about the earth changing they are diffinatley going to believe the scientist.
