Michael Moore Responds to Critics of His Filmmaking Style
By Nikki Schwab, Washington Whispers
Throughout his 20-year career as a documentary filmmaker, Michael Moore has often been criticized for oversimplifying complex topics and pulling at moviegoers' heartstrings. And according to Moore, he's guilty as charged. "I'm about winning right now," the filmmaker said today while addressing students at George Washington University. When a student asked if Capitalism: A Love Story, his new film that debuts Friday, oversimplified capitalism by labeling it "evil," Moore gave a hearty, "Yes." He went on to explain: "In my movie, if I tell you that there's a home foreclosed on every seven and a half seconds, you need to know that that's absolutely true. When Fox News says crazy things like, 'Obamacare is going to kill your grandmother,' that's how we're different."
Moore also reminded students that it's still just a movie, not a thesis or term paper. "All art is about appealing to emotion," he said.

Obama & Me
I'm quite a fan of Moore and his Filmmaking style. My favorate film of his is still 'Rodger & Me'. One of my favorate scenes in the film is an interview with a former GM assembly line worker who suffered a mental breakdown at work one day and left to go home. The man describes turning on the radio in his (GM) truck to The Beach Boys' 'Wouldn't it be Nice', a cheery upbeat tune, and breaking into tears as he tries to sing along. Moore, in his trademark style, follows up with footage shot drive-by style from a car of all the abandoned/foreclosed homes--many homes in succession, at least four blocks--to the above-mentioned Beach Boys song. It really drove the point home.
The other day I was driving through one of my city's business districts in my (Toyota) truck listening to the radio. It was an oldies station and that same beach Boys song was on. I was cheerfully humming along to the tune in my usual happy-go-lucky state of mind when I looked over and noticed a storefront that had been boarded up, then another, and another, and so on. For several blocks.
"Wouldn't it be nice if we were older
Then we wouldn't have to wait so long
And wouldn't it be nice to live together
In the kind of world where we belong
You know its gonna make it that much better
When we can say goodnight and stay together"
I find it frustrating that a man whose past films are so prophetic still has to constantly defend the integrity of his current film. Especially from mainstream news outlets--you know, the ones that mindlessly regurgitated administration (Bush & Obama) claims that the now-dead missile shield in Poland was to defend Europe from an Iranian missile attack, or that won't even mention single-payer, despite it still being the most popular idea with the people of this country, or that the nuclear facility that Iran made sure the IAEA was fully aware of since it's inception was somehow a secret, or that relentlessly attempts to goad viewers into believing that the objection Americans have to Obama's policies is that they're too left-wing, when in reality, the objection most Americans have to Obama is that he's too right-wing.
It's enough to drive a man to have a mental breakdown.
"Wouldnt it be nice if we could wake up
In the morning when the day is new
And after having spent the day together
Hold each other close the whole night through
Happy times together weve been spending
I wish that every kiss was neverending
Wouldnt it be nice"
Of course they did
Chuck Grassly first used the words "Kill Grandma", but I've heard Hannity repeat those same words. The whole "death panel" myth is rooted in the idea that "Obamacare" is going to stop doctors from treating old people.
The reason many news outlets don't report that Obama is "lying about Health Care paying for itself," is because he hasn't signed any legislation nor has he submitted any legislation to congress. With the exeption of Fox, most organizations that use the word "News" in their name only report actual facts. Of course, maybe I'm just old. I remember when credibility and fact-checking were important.
I can't wait until till the ACORN investigation really gets going. From the Justice department firings to the teabaggers, this seems to have partisanship and racisim written all over it.

Fox News never said that B Hussein ObamaCare was going to kill your grandma. That's just another of the film makers'political license.
The Democrats just can't stand a news agency bringing to light the take over of our health care system.
ACORN is one example of main stream media ignoring the evil in this administration. Another is Nevada now not having to pay for Medicare increase. Now other states will have to pick up the slack. B.Hussien Obama said it would pay for itself, another lie not reported by main stream media, it just goes on and on.
