Michelle Obama's Fall Garden

First lady Michelle Obama's spring garden on the South Lawn is, well, pretty wilted. But that doesn't mean she's turning it into mulch. Whispers hears that the staff is planning a fall crop of veggies like cukes and radishes. And it most likely won't end there. Master gardeners tell us that the D.C. area is ripe for cool-weather crops like beets, turnips, lettuce, collards, and leeks.

US News should do more reporting on the harmful effects of some of these pesticides that are widely used in commercial food growing.
I am a Whole Foods Market shopper 100%, but many more might be converted if they really knew just how harmful all of these pesticides are.

Beets and turnips? Don't they have green tops when planted? As in green tops that stick out of the ground, clearly visible to any nearby visitors?
Sounds like an inviting garden for any local wild cottontail bunnies that might be around.
Hope the First Lady plans on taking out some extra carrots for distraction if any nearby bunnies go on a typical bunny breeding spree.
I do not garden, but the local Illinois cottontails have pretty much eaten my neighbor's raspberry bush that they have been using as protective cover.
Good luck to Michelle if any rabbits move in.
