Obama's Poll Numbers Seem to Bottom Out

August 07, 2009 05:00 PM ET | Permanent Link | Print

Pollster John Zogby regularly updates our ObamaMeter. Each week, Zogby uses his polling, expert analysis, and interaction with major players to come up with a rating of between 1 and 100. The ObamaMeter, however, is not a poll-generated job approval number. Instead, the Washington Whispers ObamaMeter is Zobgy's judgment on the performance of the president once multiple factors are considered.

"It was a better week for the president, with North Korea's pardon of two American journalists and potential to make progress on nuclear talks. He even has some conservatives nodding in approval. Passage of healthcare reform through House committees means at least momentum going into recess. The immediate task is to spin Tea Party protests at congressional town halls into a black eye for health plan opponents. The beer summit defused a tense situation and got the pres back on message. It's a good time for a vacation and a rewrite of the game plan for a fresh start. His poll numbers seem to have bottomed out and are ticking back up."

This week: up to 78

Last week's rating: 72

Correction: Obama's Poll Numbers keep dropping

"Thursday, August 13, 2009

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 29% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-seven percent (37%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -8 (see trends).

Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter is feeling the heat of the health care debate. He now trails Republican Pat Toomey by double digits in an early look at the potential 2010 race. Two months ago, Specter led by double digits. Most Pennsylvania voters oppose the Congressional health care reform effort. Also, Specter’s lead is shrinking in his Democratic Primary match-up with Congressman Joe Sestak.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter.

Overall, 47% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. That’s the lowest level of total approval yet recorded. The President’s ratings first fell below 50% just a few weeks ago on July 25. Fifty-two percent (52%) now disapprove.

Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Republicans disapprove along with 65% of those not affiliated with either party. Seventy-eight percent (78%) of Democrats offer their approval. Most women (51%) offer their approval while most men (56%) disapprove. For more measures of the President's performance, see Obama By the Numbers and recent demographic highlights from the tracking polls.

Later today, Rasmussen Reports will release new data on which party voters trust when it comes to health care. Premium Members can get an advance look at the data.

Nationally, support for the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats has fallen to a new low. Just 42% favor the plan while 53% are opposed. Other data shows that 51% fear the federal government more than private insurance companies. Forty-one percent (41%) fear the insurance companies more. Overall, 32% favor a single-payer health care system for the U.S. while 57% are opposed."

Amnesty push will drop his poll numbers

Watch how fast Obama's poll numbers drop when he starts pushing "comprehensive immigration reform" a/k/a MASS AMNESTY for 12-20 million illegal aliens.

The pampered elites want amnesty, but not the American people --especially the millions of unemployed working class Americans whose jobs were stolen by illegals.

Strategies of Obama and his Adminstration/Cabinet

1. Doing a good job in Afganistan, I am starting to feel things are going to change. Time to leave Iraq, we can use the money for much better security tactics and systems.

2. Health Care, can it be a double hitter?, consider if medicare is offered to people starting at age 62. I believe many employees would opt for retirement if they had medicare. To reduce the cost to government, a slightly higher premium can be set until they reach 65/66. Think how many jobs might become available if this is offered.

3. Mexico, I am glad to see Obama taking a real interest in the drug situation and corruption in Mexico. This country should be a vital force to the US, since it is our neigbor. Mexico has to change, and only the people of Mexico can do that. Why is it taking so long, and why are the people not getting it right????

4. Bailouts, too bad we gave so much money to the underserving/undeserving. (Couldn't the banks refinance those subprimes to a fix, affordable rate, maybe 5%. At least they might have had a better chance of getting paid.) We should have spent it on better programs that create jobs, such as "Cash for Clunkers" in the auto industry. We could do that for appliances too. Double hitter, help with energy, create jobs.

5. Imports, we need strong rules/regulations governing imports. Such might include safety standards, product standards for consumer goods, including pet care products, and proper shipping practices. Maybe we can start a service in the US that will employ people to monitor this (maybe there is already a service, then let's hear more about it, and not wait for the problem to happen), or maybe we need to cut back on our imports.

6. Hillary, you are woman, you are strong. You have always been able to rise above issues, why couldn't you do that during your visit to Africa. Obama, did you make the right choice for your VP?

7. Biden, you there?? Stop the back-slapping, smiling, "how are you, Joe" stuff and become a V.P. Stand-by your President,he is intelliegent, caring, and deserves to be seen as a good president who stepped into one heck of a mess. Even go down in history as a "great" president, if things prove positive during his presidency.

Republicans and Democrats, show some real interest in thethe common good of all people, not just your constituency. If you are good, they will vote for you. Stop fighting, and resentment and destruction. Bring back the respectable politicans, repub and democrats. I am starting to feel left out of my own country.

Overall Rating for Obama, high, but stop the bailouts.

Bobbles Poll: Obama's Socialist Joke?

President Obama and "Oboker" bobbleheads for Washington Whispers. Bobbleheads provided by webobbles.com.

Shouts that President Obama is steering the nation and budget in a socialist manner have become so loud that now our bobble supplier has designed a "Socialist Obama" titled "OBOKER," a play off Heath Ledger's evil Joker who sought social upheaval in the The Dark Knight. Do you think that Obama's agenda is exactly what the country needs or a push into socialism?
