A Tougher Obama Takes on Critics
Pollster John Zogby regularly updates our ObamaMeter. Each week, Zogby uses his polling, expert analysis, and interaction with major players to come up with a rating of between 1 and 100. The ObamaMeter is not a strictly poll-based job approval number. Instead, the Washington Whispers ObamaMeter is Zogby's judgment on the performance of the president once multiple factors are considered.
"It looks like 'no more Mr. Nice Guy' for Barack Obama. With Republicans out to stop healthcare reform and moderate Democrats balking at the costs of reform and any tax increases to pay for it, Obama is all over the media, calling out Republicans and liberal bloggers on Democrats who want to delay a vote and oppose the public-plan option. The new, more combative Obama arrives none too soon, as voters are losing faith in an economic recovery and reacting to health reform in ways that resemble those of 1994. He needs to be on the offensive, because growing voter impatience is leading to some real erosion in his approval numbers.
This week: down to 79.
Last week's rating: 81

A Simple Solution to this Healthcare Situation.
We don't need radical healthcare reform; what we need are caps on medications and medical procedures. If the AMA doesn't like it, that's too bad. All this nonsense going on now can be avoided by just putting caps on, so the people don't get ripped off by the pharmaceutical companies and the medical profession.
Then those of us who have slipped through the crack can be attended to without all this noise going on. The medical community and pharmaceutical community have been spoiled by being able to charge more and more. Other countries don't pay the medical profession or the drug companies what is paid out in this country. If the medical profession doesn't like to hear this, then they should leave this country and see how they make out in another country.
I have friends who live in Arizona who go over the border for medicine and medical procedures; this is sad and stupid. The funny thing about going over the Mexican border is that Americans are running the businesses for the most part.
Obama's Health Care Scheme
The big problem with what Obama and the left envison is that if Government gets controll of yoiur healthcare, then they could also control every other aspect of your life. Your freedoms and decisions of personal choice will be dicated by some faceless politician or buerocrat who has absolutely no idsea of how you wish to live. Evcrything from what you eat, wether or not you choose to drink or smoke, the kind of car you drive, the type of shoes you wear, could concievably be mandated by government fiat under the guise of 'protecting" health care intests. Why don't we just all wear Cahirman Mao type bland jump suits, after all they are very utilitarian, are inecpensive, save the environment and protect against the flu.We qould all dress"equally and hold hands an sing "kumbyaw".
Should cost be the among agreed upon?
Perhaps we (Americans) should rethink the word costs; when we consider the over all welfare of our country/nation and its people. Is it too much to believe that our nations success depends on us all protecting the least among us?..All cost must raise we have one-hundred million more Americans than we did 20 years ago,and reduced global resourses..The less there is, in our system, more it costs per individual..This type of logic only benefits the persons who control the delivery sytems and those reduced resources. Let's not go there if at all possible...Costa Rica
