Longtime Bill Clinton buddy Terry McAuliffe's bruising defeat in the Virginia gubernatorial primary wasn't just a sign that Bubba, who campaigned hard for his fundraiser, is losing his magic touch. Democrats say it was also a blow to Sen. Mark Warner, practically sainted as a fiscal savior in the Old Dominion, since McAuliffe used Warner's campaign and ad team.

McAuliffe defeat

Being as this site was the first I heard about McAuliffe's defeat I would not read too much into it. I am sure other forces were at play besides his personal traits. Could it be people are actually beginning to pay more attention to a person's policy and resume than their attributes? I certainly hope so.

style

McAuliffe Defeat Stings Clinton and Warner

Not to mention the Democratic party and agenda. Seriously folks, McAuliffe ran on the sainted Obama platform, and got whacked, very hard. I would suggest that unless some of the partisanship and spending frenzy in Washington changes, the same will hold true for many Democrats in 2010.
