Washington Whispers by Paul Bedard

Star Trek Voyager's Kate Mulgrew: Obama is Kirk, Not Spock

Enough with the Obama-as-Spock comparisons, says Star Trek Voyager's Kate Mulgrew, who played the starship's captain, Kathryn Janeway. "He's far sexier, he's much funnier, he's infinitely more human" than the pointy-eared character, says the actress, in town to promote her Gitmo-inspired film, The Response. "Spock was Spock. He had no emotional life," Mulgrew tells Whispers. "It seems to me that Obama has been shaped completely because of his background, his history, his love of his grandmother, his biracial dilemmas. He's been informed by just about everything that's deeply human." So whom would Obama play? "I would say he's rather like me, Captain Janeway," she says tartly, drawing a connection between her character's role as a scientist and Obama's expansion of stem cell research and other scientific endeavors.

Kate Mulgrew

OH MY GOD!!!! How did Kate Mulgrew ever get her first acting job???? She is HORRIBLE!!!!!!! She thinks that she is so hot!! This is what makes her ao UGLY!!!!!!!!! SHe is NOT HOT....Besides that....she can not act worth a Damn!!! What a joke!!!

This is laughable

Okay, this comparison is made by a Democrat of a Democrat. I for one like Kate Mulgrew as an Actress. I think she can, like any American, express her opinions. I don't think much of Obama as a President, but as a man he seems to be perfectly human yes.

I for one feel like the characters in Star Trek can be compared to almost any body. The actors interpretations are the ones we stick with because they are the original interpretations, but anybody can see themselves through these characters. I like Voyager. I only have seen a few episodes of TNG and the Original Star Trek, but I have seen a lot of Voyager.

Needless to say... this comparison about Spock, Kirk, and Obama, is what the discussion is about so I will say this about it. In the words of Seven of Nine its completely irrelevant to the job that President Obama must do. Hard decisions or not, I'd rather Obama be tough then popular.

Thank You Ms. Mulgrew.

Wow, you can certainly tell the die hard rush listeners here. Sheesh, the woman was offering her opinion along the line of fictitious characters having a little fun. Some of you people really need to go have a drink and a shot of happiness to back it up. Get over yourselves. I always love the blowhards who sit back and critique people in leadership positions when they don't have to make the hard choices or calls themselves...like your obvious Svengali Mr. Limbaugh. You have the easy part...telling everyone else where they are going wrong. Such arrogance.

Excellent analogy Ms. Mulgrew and I always loved your interpretations and performances of Captain Janeway (for those of you going on about her being a horrible captain...she's playing a ROLE. There is no captain Janeway you dolts) and I hope that we see you again as the Tough captain in the future.
