United States Going Away From Gun Control

Maybe it's the 9/11 hangover or those anti-Obama bumper stickers sold at gun shops, but the country is edging away from gun control. "Attitudes toward gun control have become more conservative, people not wanting gun control," says Frank Newport, editor-in-chief of the Gallup Poll. The number of people who say they want "more strict" gun control measures is dropping, he says. "So the NRA actually is in a pretty good position now, public-opinion-wise."

i believe that no matter what the citizens of this country do the democrats will always try to get rid of guns. even thought the statistics show that the more guns that citizens have crime goes down. the gun owners are screwed even more thought cause we have to many gun hating democrats in the government right now. i believe that there will always be someone out there that will one day get his way with guns, and if we dont do anything about it now obama and biden will be the two who get their way. i dont care that the democrats and other people say that he is pro gun, but all republicans now the truth that biden was the first one to impose gun laws on machine guns. plus the new medicine law obama is pushing to get socalized medicine wont work he doesnt have the money which means more taxes for us to help pay for healthcare. he also wants to tax the gun companies so its more expensive to buy guns and eventually they will go out of bussiness which will kill the economy and put many people out of work.but obama doesnt care as long as he gets his way hes fine. to me obama is a dictator but no one knows.
Change in Opinion?
The original statement here was something to the effect : " more people are coning around to the idea of less gun control.."
I don't disagree, but I must say I think there's been a huge percentage of law abiding gun owners out there ever since 1773, but we go ignored by the media. People who own guns are labeled as " wacko's " because they want to shut us up. I don't think it always used to be this way, but things have drastically changed in the last 30 years or so. I agree with the previous comment, let there be a Civil war. Let the Left find out just how many people are willing to fight! Especially since Liberals don't see a point in owning a gun! Lots of military men and police are gun owners themselves, so would be unwilling to go killing fellow freedom-lovers in their own homes... But let's be intelligent here... Obama and his cronies aren't that dumb. They know outright confiscation would be a blood bath. that's why there're going to strangle us little by little. THAT is why, my friends, we need to strongly oppose ALL gun control measures. They won't stop at 'one gun a month'. they won't stop at 'cartridge encoding'. BTW, all you have to do is pickup your brass when you're done, better yet, leave someone else's brass at the scene to really confuse law enforcement. Ever think of that?
The majority needs to speak and act like it. If Government does something unconstitutional, I don't see the need to comply with it. We have to draw a line in the sand, or we'll all be peasants living in some work camp named Obama-traz.
Real numbers
Real numbers mean little to those with the nanny state mentality. They throw out numbers of students killed or wounded by criminals with firearms. Never do they look at the number of people saved from a criminal by being armed and ready. And sadly, those killed in these massacres are killed because they are law abiding people in "gun free" zones. Free of good guys with guns, but wonderful targetrich areas for bad guys with guns. Most bad guys are cowards. They go after the unarmed. Those with the nanny state mentality are really providing the criminals with easy to attack prey.
