Washington Whispers by Paul Bedard

Bill Clinton's Bad Rap with the Military

By Paul Bedard, Washington Whispers

During his eight years in office, former President Clinton and his team were often labeled antimilitary. There was that bit in 1993 after a Clinton staffer sneered, "I don't talk to the military," when then Army Lt. Gen. Barry McCaffrey simply said, "Good morning," to her. Then Bubba took the blame for the U.S. casualties in Mogadishu, Somalia. Now comes former Joint Chiefs Chairman Richard Myers, who says Clinton was a perfect commander in chief. In his new book, Eyes on the Horizon, the highly respected retired Air Force general says Clinton—and wife Hillary—got a bad rap from the press. "He could discuss the fine points of strategic issues as well as any flag officer," the retired general reveals, "and Hillary Rodham Clinton was passionately interested in the programs that affected military families."

Disddain for the Military

As a retired military officer--with real experience with the Clinton interaction with the military--I can tell you for 100%--that there was no love lost for the military--President Clinton was perhaps indifferent--but Hillary hated us.

the clintons

All I can say is, Bill and Hillary Clinton have done alot more for this country than any of the people, media and bloggers, who thrive on nasty little digs and innuendos about them. I do wish the American public would grow up and learn that civil discourse is acceptable even when there are disagreements. I live in France and from abroad Americans look like snivelling little know nothings who bluster instead of learning the facts before spouting off. Sincerely, DR Ward
