Washington Whispers by Paul Bedard

Sarah Palin and the Miss America Scholarship Fund

She has touched the upper rung of American politics, but Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin hasn't forgotten what got her there. Even the more embarrassing moments. Case in point: Taking second place in the 1984 Miss Alaska Pageant, where she strutted the stage in a cherry-red, one-piece bathing suit and heels. While a bit bashful about her beauty queen past, her runner-up status made her Alaska's backup for the Miss America Pageant, qualifying her for the group's scholarship fund. The former GOP vice presidential nominee gushed about how the money gave her the start she needed.

It was during a recent Washington luncheon when Palin bumped into Georgetown businesswoman Ann Hand, the official jeweler of the contest, who contributes a portion of her Miss America Collection to the scholarship fund. "That Miss America scholarship—that's what got me through college," Hand says Palin told her. In fact, it covered most of her college years.

Hand, known for outfitting Washington's elite with large Americana designs featuring eagles that are popular on both sides of the aisle, tells us she found Palin "even prettier in person." And that's without seeing her in Hand's jewels, though we hear that the former Miss Wasilla, who normally sports Alaska-shaped earrings, does have some of the jeweler's handiwork. That's because Cindy McCain gave her a Hand "Army" pin for their presidential campaign, during which Palin's son Track was sent to Iraq to serve with an Army unit.

Palin: the only republican alternative for Obama's leadership

CPAC convention has straw polls and Mitt Romney was on the top list as frontrunner for 2012 republican ticket. Mitt Romney is a traditional politician, like McCain, who can sacrifice his conservative moral convictions just to get elected. I say, at this present times, we do not need that kind of politicians. We are in the era of new beginning, and we need some fresh faces in the politics that can stand by on their moral convictions. Too much of liberalism is bad for the society, the same way of too much of big government spending. My families, friends and I have made a firm decision for 2012.

1. If Obama succeeds, why change him?? But if he fails, it is about time to change the leadership. It depends on whose leadership.

2. If Romney will be the Republican candidate, we have no choice but to re-elect Obama, and give hime another chance.

3. If Palin/Jindal or Palin/Perry will be the republican ticket, then we will vote for the republican ticket on 2012.

Sarah 2012

YES, WE CAN AND YES WE WILL! REMEMBER 48% OF AMERICANS VOTED FOR SARAH!!!!!! The way Obama is screwing up the US in just a few short weeks Sarah will get at least 60% of the vote.

Dahhhhhh!!!

You mean she got a scholorship fund for college, and it took her six times and she still doesn't? Hillarious and believable.
