House Speaker Nancy Pelosi a 'Star Wars' Fan

It turns out that Speaker Nancy Pelosi is a Star Wars buff. Pelosi presented the Lincoln Medal to Star Wars director George Lucas at last night's Ford's Theatre re-opening and told Whispers that she loves his work. "Oh yes, I'm a big fan of Star Wars," she said. "My five children, my husband, and I have seen the Star Wars movies over 100 times—we just couldn't get enough of it." Pelosi gushed about the director, who won the Lincoln Medal at the star-studded event attended by everyone from the Obamas to actors James Earl Jones and Sidney Poitier and even former cabinet pick Tom Daschle. "Every time George Lucas comes to Capitol Hill, it's so thrilling," Pelosi said. "He's my constituent, you see, and he's my friend."

Geographical 'malfunction'
Perhaps not surprisingly, Pelosi doesn't seem to know where her constituency is. She's never actually there. For the record, Lucas actually lives in Lynn Woolsey's constituency (Marin County). But then I suppose Madame Speaker couldn't be bothered with minor details like that. After all, how is she supposed to know who she represents in Congress?
What's the big deal?
A man who created a new mythology for our current times gets honored. Reminds us about redemption, family & the horrors of war all in an engaging manner for all ages. Oh yeah, he's also a philanthropist & civil rights activist. And so he gets honored & Nancy Pelosi says she's a fan & is thrilled to meet him. Oh my!
Something positive hits the news? Yeah, I can see why you're all so upset about this.
I may not like Pelosi or her sometimes extreme views/policies but me not liking a person doesn't put everything they do & say in a negative light. I guess that's because I'm not an ideologue & can recognize that we should all enjoy ourselves now & then...even those I disagree with.
