Washington Whispers by Paul Bedard

Paul's Podcast: Huckabee's Apology; LBJ at 100; Is McCain Bush 3?

Washington Whispers editor Paul Bedard is now podcasting on the city's political buzz and gossip. But he's not just reading his column into your computer and iPod. No sir. He's putting more tidbits and details on the table and offering some news that's not in his magazine column or online. In this week's edition, for example, he gives some more detail on that call Mike Huckabee made to Barack Obama after he told a bad joke at the National Rifle Association convention. And he reveals just who Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace has his sights trained on. Every week, Paul will update what's going on in Washington with his new podcast. Better yet, listen now or subscribe and download on iTunes and with RSS.

liberals and democrats are wimps and losers.

Election

Sen. McCain is no Bush clone. He has bought into Al Gore's global warming hoax, does not want to drill in Anwar, sponsored legislation with Teddy and Feingold, etc. But he will not cut and run from Iraq as the Democrats plan to do, and he will not appoint activist judges, especially to the Supreme Court. His age is not a factor so long as he picks the right running mate. His doctors say he is in good shape. 71 is not old these days (I am 72 and still active).

It may not make any difference who gets elected, looks like we are going to have a veto-proof Congress. We will end up with socialized medicine, which has not worked in the UK or Canada and will not work here either. There will not be enough doctors, as they have found out in Massachusetts, and you will have to wait a long time for surgery if you need it. The cost to taxpayers will be prohibitive.

I just wish the Republican party would exercise more intestinal fortitude; it seems they have pretty much given up, and we are in for another Jimmy Carter four years.

Heaven help us.

Military service

The GOP and John McCain are WRONG for taking Obama to task for his lack of military service.
