McCain's Veep Decision

Some insiders are eager to name a nominee before the August convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul, possibly even weeks in advance, while others want to follow the traditional practice of making the announcement at or right before the convention. Another issue is how to conduct the search and whether it will be in public or secret. Campaign officials have told strategists that they would like for the process to be somewhat open for the public and press to view, especially as they try to interview candidates who demonstrate the key traits being sought, including vigor, energy, and even youth.
