Democrats Hope to Turn Texas Blue for Obama

Texas Blue For Obama?
For the first time in recent history, Harris County, Texas
with our largest city, Houston turned blue in 2008.
Obama HQ displayed a large Che Guevera poster on the wall.
We can and will get over this travesty of a wake up call.
Hooray!
This Texas county is over 93% registered Republican. The funny thing is that on many issues a majority of the people will take a position more suited to the Democratic party.
texas from red to blue
if texans join the whimpy 'gimme me' sheep, refute their heritage, and surrender their independence to washington, then the lone star will dim and vanish. i don't believe it. regardless of what flag flies over the united states eventually, our state flag will wave proudly over texas.
Turning Texas Blue.
First there must be a Democrat Party in Texas that has some idea of how to build a winning coalition. Texas is a Conservative State not by ideology, but by ignorance.
Last year I told the guys at Burnt Orange Report that the odds of defeating the hopelessly inept John Cornyn was slim to none. The were all awash with disapproval ratings for Cornyn and sure that this time they might be able to pull it off, but alas no. The reason that Democrats have trouble in Texas has several parts.
Texas was a Democrat State from the Civil War till 1964. From 1964 to 1994 Texas began to turn from Blue to Red because of Black. Texas was not Democrat for over 100 years because of policy, it was because Lincoln was a Republican. Race was a very large motivating factor.
There are three basic segments of the Democrat Party, the old guard Liberals and Lydon Johnson Populists, Blacks, and Union members. In the area I live the Democrat party is non-existent for all practical purposes.
If Texas is to be Blue, then it has to start right now. We have lists of people to start canvasing to determine where core support is. People need to be educated through PR programs, blogs, and Newsletters. Once the base is identified then out reach can begin. When the filing date for election 2010 rolls around candidates in all all districts need to have a volunteer base in place.
I tried to get involved in the General Election and the prevailing attitude from county regulars was that I should stay on them to get involved rather than the other way around. Outside organization was good, but homegrown was a weak effort.
Turning TX Blue
We're ready to work hard to do what it takes to get it done!
Blue Texas
you go girl!
