Kids Get Close Up With the Captiol Visitors Center
Twenty thousand kids and teachers can't be wrong. At least that's what the new Capitol Visitor Center hopes. In a dry run to test the new tourist facility on the Capitol grounds before officially cutting the ribbon next month, groups from Close Up, the Washington classroom program, are being invited to play guinea pigs. "Our kids will be figuring out what's working and not," says Close Up President Tim Davis. Close Up, which brings some 20,000 students and teachers to Washington each year for insider briefings and tours, did the same for the Newseum before its opening. "They asked our kids to come in and just run wild," he says. "It helps them work out the bugs."

Close-Up trip is Awesome
I'm also 18 years old and just last week i went to Washington D.C. with the Close-Up foundation and it was amazing. We went to everything you could possibly think of. Not to mention we were there during election week. We went to the visitors center that wasnt even open to the puplic until about a month later. It was amazing. I;m glad that i could go. If you are interested in law or love sight seeing take the trip. I's beautiful in November, and if you from Alaska like myself it's warm
CLOSE UP
I am 18 years old and from Southern California, and last February I went on a trip of a life time. I went on the Close Up trip to Washington DC, and visited the Newseum before it was even opened to the public. The close Up trip to our nations capital was such a memorable experience it shall remain a part of me my entire life. They did such a fantastic job at teaching us about the US government and taking us to all the historic monuments that I want to go back and visit and maybe someday live there. The Newseum was such a highlight to my trip because that museum is like no other museum in the country. The creators of the museum did such a fantastic job at intriguing the audience and making me want to come back someday. OUr capitol is an amazing place and I am blessed that I was able to visit it and see the things I did. It was all because of the Close Up foundation
