Washington Whispers by Paul Bedard

Sarah Palin Won't Replace Ted Stevens in the Senate

November 07, 2008 05:25 PM ET | Paul Bedard | Permanent Link | Print

If you've heard it, then forget the speculation that Sen. Ted Stevens wants to repair his name by getting re-elected despite a corruption scandal and then resign to pave the way for Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to take over. Washington insiders have been expecting Stevens to step aside, satisfied that winning re-election alone was enough to restore his reputation. But now longtime allies say he wants to remain a senator while appealing the case.

Ted Stevens=A leader

Stevens messed up. So what? Everyone messes up. Although I adore Sarah Palin, I hope Stevens remains in the Senate. He is a Senate leader, and has done a lot of good for the people of Alaska and of America!

I Shouldn't Have Been Surprised

I don't know how the rest of you reacted when we all saw Ted Stevens in a debate, shortly after being convicted, twice declare that he, "Hasn't been convicted of anything!" I was stunned. I mean, I'm used to spin and half-truths coming out of these guys...but that was just an out-and-out, blatant lie.

With a day or so to reflect, I felt kinda stupid. I've recently sat through a whole host of folks calling a Christian democrat a muslim socialist (and those were some of the nicer things). So why not take it to the next level? But I still couldn't quite shake off the shock of the complete and totality of the lie.

Well, that's when it hit me. He was convicted on 7 counts of making false statements. Why on earth would I, or anyone else, be surprised he'd made false statements in a debate. It's asking why birds fly or fish swim. He was just doing what he does. For the folks out there professing his innocence or hoping he pulls off some sort of miraculous appeal, you only need look at his statements during that debate.

The man's a liar. Period, end of story. And now that he's been convicted of lying, and went on record with lies about that conviction, those who are still willing to even consider believing anything that comes out of his mouth is just a fool.

William Jefferson

What happened to William Jefferson??

It's been two years since the F.B.I. found $90,000in his Garage,

when will they have a Trial for him??

No doubt that"Jefferson's very corrupt Black Constituents, overwhelmingly re-elected him.

Iam a Hispanic/Latino and"it seems to me that the Black Folks

are now above U.S.Laws but Not White Senators like Ted Stevens!"

I bet that"Obama will give Pardons to William Jefferson and to

Obama's "ACORN"Cronies/Underlings,who helped Obama win with their Voters Registration Fraud."
