eating moose

funny, i just finished a moose cheeseburger. It was pretty tasty. ebeyfarms.blogspot.com for pics and details.

Don't knock it until you try it!

Living in Northern Maine there is a Moose lottey somewhat similiar to Alaska. I have had many occassions to have moose meat and it is delicious. It also depends on where the moose grazed (ate) for the time they were alive. Some taste better than others. It s essential that we hunt moosein or area because of the over population of them in the area and State of Maine. Many people loose their lives each year due to the moose running onto the highways.

SARAH PALIN 2013!!!!!

Moose Meat

Why say you don't like something when you have never tried it.

Moose meat is good. I am not sure why the Palins make so much of the moose into burger. I like it best as a roast and steak. I did cook moose once for a group of friends from the lower 48. I made steam burgers and they accused me of using beef. It was moose they just couldn't tell the difference.

If the chef wants to serve an Alaskan dish we do have caribou herds up here whose meat is USDA approve. You can buy the caribou(reindeer) meat in Anchorage meat markets and some grocery stores( mainly in the bush),I purchased steaks over 15 years ago) from the Alaska Commercial (AC) store in Nome.

HI any one that likes moose stew should be in washington dc.that is why gov. palin should be president and go there to kick donkey and clean that place up.

Moose meat

I really don't believe that any Anchorage restaurants have

moose meat. And very few if any in the rest of Alaska. But

then again there isn't any deer meat on restaurant menus in other states and yet a lot of people hunt it for personal use.

. No different than moose meat, huh?

Moose

It's illegal to sell moose meat-meaning you can't go to Alaska and eat it unless you know someone who will give you some. You can, however buy farm raised Bison, Raindeer, Muskox(from Canada)and Elk. All very good and good for you.

Moose stew

When we lived in the outback of AK., we lived off the land. Moose stew was a staple however, we didn't add the tomato, corn, or red wine. It was more basics and what grew and was in the larder.

For folks that go to a grocery store, they'll never understand what our ancestors did to survive or live off the land as the Native Indian did all their lives, before they were stuck on reservations having to depend of the government to "provide" for them.

American Indians did very well without the government having to provide food and medicine to their tribe.

Anyhow, stick to the earth grown items to make a great stew.

Hey Carol of Nebraska! I have had deer and buffalo also and it's quite good. Don't let anyone ruffle your feathers about the way you eat where you live. It sure the hell beats the hell out of a tofu burger. (Mmmmm yeah, I'm sure they are really enjoying that). Some people are so small minded and shallow they don't realize the beauty of all the wonderful people we have in our great nation. Look at all the different foods and recipes and music and cultures. We are so lucky and some people are just too stupid to step out of their sheltered self centered life to look around and go WOW, look at what WE got. Oh, by the way my new neighbors are from NE and are absolutely lovely people.

Seriously, beef is environmentally-unfriendly???? so I guess all you city dwellers are environmentally unfriendly because of all the car emmissions and noise and light pollution- why does everyone have to put down anything that out of their personal relm?? I'm happy

to be here in Nebraska enjoying great corn-fed beef on a regular basis. Venison is good too. I've had elk and it is great. Bison meat is always good. I'd really like to try moose sometime. Maybe we can get Ted Turner to start adding moose to suppliment his bison ranches.

Bill Clinton Bobblehead, Washington Whispers

Bill Clinton recently said that he wished he could have stayed president until they carted him away in a coffin or he lost reelection. Looking back, would you have voted Clinton into a third term against George W. Bush in 2000?
