Martin Luther King III for Obama in Georgia

With just two weeks left, supporters of both the candidates are doing all they can to drive voters to the polls. Civil rights activist Martin Luther King III says he's going to devote his time to get-out-the-vote efforts for Barack Obama in his home state of Georgia, normally a ruby red GOP state. "Georgia is in play," King told Whispers. "I don't really think Georgia has been polled properly." Recent polling in the state has been all over the place, with John McCain up anywhere from 3 points, within the margin of error, to 9 points. And there have been some signs that there is renewed interest in the state by the Obama camp. King was in Washington to host the Summit to Realize the Dream, a civil rights policy gathering, where some attendees attested to feeling "the Obama euphoria." King himself seemed pretty hopeful about Obama's chances of getting to sit in the Oval Office. "I really believe he has an incredible opportunity, but anything can happen in two weeks," he told us. "I'm cautiously optimistic."
