Recognition

OK. Does this recognition guarantee our troops will get a modern GI Bill? Does it apologize for sending them in without a plan in '03? Or without armor in '04? PTSD assitance in '05?Lets give our troops real thanks. Lets make sure they have every opportunity for home ownership, health care, college educations and good jobs. Not just some letter. They know they did a good job, lets give them the thanks they deserve.

trillion dollar victory surge

Bush jr and McCain are trying to take credit for the surge working, when all the experts say paying the rebel tribes (bribing the enemy) is what brought down the violence...for now.

That you believe we are there to "protect freedom" would be laughable had it not costs so many lives, and trillions of dollars. All our sons and daughters are there to protect is oil. Otherwise, we would have simply sent in a few jets and bombed each of Husseins palaces. Why do you think we had soldiers protecting oil fields after the invasion, and not the fields of ammunition? Why do you think we didn't invade Darfur?

....hint, 3 letter word

I thought success was supposed to be political and economic success after the surge created breathing room.

I haven't seen any of that success and for McCain to say it has been a success is a little premature just like Bush's "Mission Accomplished" banner.

Sure you can put a cop on every street corner and reduce crime but that doesn't fix the criminal mind. And how long can you afford to to that- in every country?

surge

If John McCain ever comes to a sudden halt, Joe Lieberman's head is gonna go straight up his ass.

Funny...

Funny, "wake up" is exactly what we yell at the mainstream media who refuse to show our progress or any semblance of what it's really like, and their ridiculous anti-war movement puppets.

Iran will get what's coming to it no matter who is president, hopefully by Israel and/or our restless Navy, but the ground troops would be eager despite the easier alternatives... but what the hell is this Russia crap? Are you that dense... that much of a puppet? How 'bout you watch the video with your own eyes instead of taking some NYT ds's word for it- even despite a flagrant leftist editing job the only comment about defending Georgia was a LAWFULLY ACCURATE statement with NO OTHER CORRECT ANSWERS regarding NATO RULES.

visiting solders

oh yea, he visited a lot of solders in hospitals while abroad. well i am sure he would have visited sick solders but he was very busy trying to convince Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari to delay American troop withdrawals until after the election

What a waste of Congress' time

Where are the bills for those who fought in Fallujah? or Haditha? or the initial push into Bagdhad? While we're at it, where are the bills for those who have fought, or are currently fighting, in Afghanistan?

This is nothing but political posturing.

Where are the bills that tackle the real problems we are facing now?

Being a veteran I am appalled at the use of our veterans as political pawns.

The Iraqi vets are being treated better than the Vietnam vets ever were when they got home. The job of the military member is to follow orders, not to look for approval from Congress on how good a job they did.

Grow a pair, suck it up, and stop being a political pawn.

It disgraces yourself and the uniform.

After five (5) years, something that this administration put forth should have worked. Are we suppose to applaud this 'surge working' after so many have died in an unprovoked and senseless war? No comment on the two idiots introducing this resolution who walk in goose step with GB and McCain.

The surge

It is hard to believe that people still feel the need to bash... either you support or don't support. You say bring home the troops but you support them. You say I am a vet and been there and it didn't work. You say that McCain isn't a supporter of the troops. So did I get that right?

I support America

I support the troops and their mission

I support McCain

It is too bad that everyone that has a opinion has a right to theirs.. and doesn't understand that this country is a free country this is AMERICA- if you don't agree then go to another country where you are told how to think and are killed if you think different, or you have a different religion.. oh wait our men and women are in a country like that- and has change it...hummmmm...but that can't be right- when saddam was leader there was massive killings of innocent children, women(mothers, daughters, wife's), men (husbands, sons, and fathers) that were brutal killed every day because they had a different belief a different way of thinking than of the leader saddam..

but we haven't done any good there. and that was a waste of time... we bull... we are called to other countries all the time to help- we give aid to tons of country.

so why can't the ones who were against the surge just plainly state they were wrong. is that so hard to do. We went there to find weapons of mass destruction , and we didn't but thank god in my eyes we were wrong- people say that there was AL qaeda there either. but duh..when we AMERICA went to the aid of the Iraqi people you expected them to just stand there and say " Hi I am a Al qaeda terrorist and i want to kill you , is that okay with you?" come on.

Like every issue with every candidate that is running their passing on bills and such comes into question. but the person that wrote about McCain not being for our troops- Have you read Obama's view and plans- have you listen to his speeches his lechers- anything? so my advise to you is to look on both sides and not just at what you want to hear- actually read watch everything and you will be surprised,

PS, just to let ya all know who will end up commenting stupid things against my opinion- 1. I am a democrat(and voting for McCain.2. A wife of a soldier on his second tour(Iraq for 18 months and now Afghanistan 14months). 3. A mother.

thanks for letting finally express this..

I think they should admit and thank the troops..

I respect people more when they admit they were wrong, then when people have to much pride (arrogant)to not admit it.

The Surge

I believe the verdict is still out on the surge. Certainly things seem to have improved. However, the key point is what are we even doing there in the first place, a blunder of the greatest magnitude. I support our troops, but I think everyone may want to look at John McCains voting record regarding support of our vets, dismal and shameful. If you think he is this great friend and supporter of our troops you're in for a rude awakening. He would not and could not even answer a question by a vet at a recent campaign stop. Check the net with all of the information about his "support." If you think he is a friend of your sons and daughters your kidding yourselves. Wake up America, this guy is a tired old "Joke."
