Richard Land is half correct

For Richard Land to call the Fair Tax a tax scheme shows his "ignorance" on the Fair Tax. It is the singlemost thing that can help our economy in the long term. He needs to read the two Neal Boorst books on the Fair Tax before he speaks. The people in the field are VERY supportive of the Fair Tax and we have started refusing to elect state officials who will not support it. Huckabee is very visionary in his platforms and, had the moderators in those debates concentrated less on Huck's job as a pastor ALMOST 20 yrs. ago and more on his platforms on health care, education, energy management and The Fair Tax, he would be our nominee. His gender probably did hurt him and John McCain's phobia towards pastors didn't help.... I agree that Palin lacks experience both domestic and foreign. She is strong on the social issues and I will vote the ticket but I'm not excited about it.

I would have preferred Huckabee

Governor Huckabee has been my choice for POTUS since c. September 2007. When Senator McCain got the 1,191 delegates needed to win the nomination, and Huckabee immediately dropped out, the Second Great Communicator (Huckabee) became my choice for VP.

But all that is in the past. Although I preferred Huckabee, I am overjoyed to see that McCain chose another solid conservative as his running mate, and I look forward to actively campaigning for the McCain/Palin ticket.

McCain/Palin 2008!

Palin/Huckabee 2012 (or else 2016)!

Huckabee's career is not a liability

I respectfully disagree with Dr Richard Land regarding Governor Huckabee. It continues to emphasize the chasm between the leaders of many of the conservative evangelical movement.

In fact, not only were social conservatives comfortable with Gov Huckabee, union households, African Americans, Hispanics, and working class families, strongly supported Gov Huckabee in his presidential bid and his gubernatorial races.

Maybe Dr Land, Tony Perkins, and other leaders that stayed on the sidelines during the presidential primaries need to get out of their mahogony offices and into the snow of Iowa, the hearland of Ohio, the hills of South Dakota, or the suburbs of central Florida, and travel the thousands of miles that we have seen over the last few months, could have a better barometer and better understand the sensibilities of evangelical America

Why not Huckabee?

It was the Social Conservative leaders like Richard Land and their Conservative Pundits, who swayed the GOP away from Mike Huckabee from the very beginning. The Social and Fiscal Conservative people, Christian and many diverse groups of Americans supported Gov. Huckabee above any other, but he was continuously betrayed by his own who said he couldn't win against Senator Clinton. Well look how things turned out.

These leaders seem to have a Political Agenda that procedes even their Religious principles. Unlike Richard Land, the millions of Americans who supported Mike, don't have a problem with his Baptist Minister past, but see it as a benefit in his understanding of American families, proven by his 10.5 year socially and fiscally successful and popular record as a Governor.

Even more surprising is why so many of the Religious Right pushed for Gov. Mitt Romney, who's record as Governor of Massachusetts reveals a Health Care plan consisting of $50 Abortions and whose State became the first to allow Same-Sex Marriage under his leadership. These are opposite of the Republican Platform.

But as it stands now, many Social Conservatives are thrilled by Gov. Palins selection as VP as a second choice, since she holds the same principles as Mike Huckabee. And we will unite with our next President John McCain.

If true....so sad and a negative reflection on McCain campaign

If Huckabee was overlooked because he USED to be a pastor almost 20 years ago, this is a sad reflection on the McCain campaign and a sign of prejudice just as vicious as any other type. I have asked myself how the man with the most executive experience, the best oratoral skills around, the guy who came in 2nd, ran a respectable race, who started a ground swell of grassroots support, could not even be vetted with some 20 candidates and I have no explanation so I guess that is why this is coming up. There just IS no logical explanation so I guess we are left to speculate. I certainly HOPE this is not the case and I will choose to believe in McCain and his presidency. I think it is far more likely that Huckabee is too strong a personality to be second banana to anyone....I feel that his time will come.

Huckabee

With all the hype about Mike not supporting Romney because of his Mormon religion, (which he stated clearly had NOTHING to do with it) it seems that this country actually has a religious bigotry toward Christians. My how our founding fathers would be furious! And so should we.

Senator McCain pick his VP

I do not believe that anyone could seriously compare Ms Palin experience as mayor of a town of about 5,500 people for a short time As Being Superior to Senator Obama' experience as a state senator for 8 years in the state of Illinois and a member of the US senate for almost 4 years. Absolutely Unbelieveable. From what I have seen on television and have read about Senator McCain, I think that he is an honorable man who has the interest of the country at heart. I feel equally sure that Senator Obama feel the same way.

Senator McCain's judgment borders on that of someone who is experiencing senility. He knew nothing about Ms Palin or if he did and thought her lack of experience wouldn't be questioned shows extremely bad judgment on his part. He doesn't know how many homes that he and his wife owns, by his own admission he know nothing about economic matters, he would start another cold war with the Russians,he would start another conflict with Iran. "Experience" if these are the kinds of decisions that are made by experienced statesmen, perhaps we would be better off just selecting elected officials from novice.

big duke

Huckabee is just plain stupid. No more southern baptists on any ticket please my Gawd!

Give me a real pastor any day, rather than a smark-aleck woman with hockey-playing sons, a snowmobile racing husband and a daughter appanently not parented worth a dip.
