ST. PAUL — First Lady Laura Bush and Cindy McCain made brief appearances at the Republican National Convention to urge delegates to donate to the several charities helping the victims of Hurricane Gustav. It was part of a day-long effort by the GOP in St. Paul to draw attention to their moves to aide the Gulf Coast during the abbreviated national convention session. At one point, the convention hall flashed the charities on the light boards used as score boards during games at the Xcel Energy Center.
