Washington Whispers by Paul Bedard

Bush: The Presidency Was a 'Cool Time'

August 26, 2008 02:40 PM ET | Paul Bedard | Permanent Link | Print

At the end, President Bush appears to be enjoying his job more and letting his hair down. A case in point is a private fundraiser he attended July 29 in Cleveland for congressional Republicans. Our insider reports that the prez gave a breezy 40-minute tour of his time in office, calling it a "cool experience for Laura and I." He touched on many issues like his historic war on AIDS, especially in Africa, explaining that he pushed it in part because hopeless people have the potential to become terrorists. And he's willing to do whatever it takes—serious or tongue in cheek— to elect Sen. John McCain president. "If they asked him to endorse Barack Obama, he would do that," says our tipster of Bush's comments that go even further than his earlier joke about opposing McCain if it would help.

Another Nero?

I suppose some people also felt that Nero had a sense of humor when he burning Rome to the ground. On a personal basis .... I really don't get "W" or Nero's sense of humor.

the legacy of Bush

I hardly think most survivors of our troops killed under Bush's watch would appreciate Bush's description as a "cool experience."

And if McCain is elected count on more "endless wars." I hope all you war mongers are ready for your children or grandchildren to be drafted if McCain is elected because the only way we can wage war in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, and resume a cold war front with Russia is to have a draft. Bush and co. have created a nightmare for this country and McCain promises to make it worse.

Yup, its real cool!

Heh heh...

"Pretty cool"! So presidential...

What a dumb-ass; it's like having Beavis in the Whitehouse.

That's ok though, 'cuz many Amerikans would LUV to "have a beer" with him! After all, we KNOW whut's im-poor-tant!
