Kids Dig Obama, But McCain Can Gain

DENVER—Sure, Sen. Barack Obama is cleaning up on the youth vote, but a new Harvard University Institute of Politics study finds that Sen. John McCain is close enough on some issues - terrorism, the war and immigration reform — that he can chip away at the block the Democrats are depending on to win the White House. "The youth vote should not be taken for granted by the Obama campaign or written off by the McCain campaign," says John Della Volpe, the Institute's polling director. The school just delivered their latest poll to Whispers and it has Obama beating McCain 55 percent to 32 percent among voters 18-24. It's a little bigger than the actual 2004 vote, when Sen. John Kerry beat President George Bush among younger voters 52 percent to 39 percent. But while nobody thinks McCain will best Obama among kids, there is reason for him to be hopeful of winning enough votes among 18-24-year-olds to diminish Obama's Election Day haul. The poll, for example, finds that a majority of McCain's youth voters are excited about his candidacy. That's a far cry from the Obama figure of 83 percent, but something Della Volpe noted as a positive for McCain. Also, he said that when so-called millennial voters were asked to give advice to the candidates, the responses were very similar and focused on the economy.

Leadership

I believe that the person with the unstable chair and laughing about is a comedian. Performing just like a side show.

I believe we are all looking @ one thing and one thing only. That still in the TwentyFirst Century prejudice and ignorance still play an import part for some voters.

We are missing that in an leader we need the following; strength, knowledge wisdom and courage and the compassion to see that this world belongs to everyone.

Why don't we practice what is good for this earth so we can move on. Lets leave our children with the possiblities that they can make a difference instead of what more harm can we do.

MaCain and Obama are both human, and they should be allowed to re-think. Heaven only knows how many of our fathers, brothers, uncles, sisters and aunts have died under Bush's plan of freedom.

No, Stella, it's not PASSION driving anyone to give "sacrificially" to Huckabee's campaign. It's too much "church" and not enough real effort to either know or follow the actual teachings of Jesus.

If you want to pair up a Baptist pastor with McCain to paint over McCain's cussing, beer dealing and adultery, you missed the boat.

Kids and true conservative dig Huckabee for VP!

Not any one Republican VP candidate has the ability to diffuse the naysayers, rally the party, and serve like Mike Huckabee.

Huckabee's economic and foreign relations service is widely under-reported. His global awareness and travels around the world (including Israel nine times) with the gift of listening and communicating effectively are second to none.

As a Governor, he's run a government longer than any other (in a historically Democrat state, no less), took swift action to provide mutual aid in the face of Katrina, stood for the working class and small business, restored a crumbling school system and infrastructure in Arkansas, and remains highly respected by both citizens and peers of every political persuasion. His ability to run a campaign on a shoestring more recently underscores his ability to treat others' hard-earned dollars with respect. Someone who is faithful in the little things will be just as faithful with much.

What's missing from any other potential VP candidate is passion! No amount of money can buy the support he has. None! It's PASSION that drives single parents, struggling middle class, seniors on fixed incomes, and college students to sacrificially give to his campaign. Huckabee has the respect of the independent white woman, impoverished minorities, and fired up young and first-time voters more than any other Republican.

Very importantly, Mike Huckabee inspires hope and tangible change with actual plans to make that happen. He can hold his own with the common man, the elite, and any foreign dignitary. He puts his country first, can never be bought, and shows loyalty to whatever cause he is aligned.

I hope and wish that Mr. McCain will make the right decision for our country and the Republican party by choosing Mike Huckabee as VP.
