Unhappy Democratic Bloggers Create Petition to Strip Lieberman of Committee Chairmanship

July 09, 2008 05:01 PM ET | Paul Bedard | Permanent Link | Print

Apparently not every Democrat was excited about formerly Democratic but now independent Sen. Joe Lieberman's shining endorsement of Republican presidential candidate John McCain. Nor were Democrats too enthusiastic to hear recent rumors of Lieberman's being a potential McCain veep pick. So the progressive blogosphere has concocted the perfect punishment—stripping the senator of his chairmanship of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee in 2009.

The bloggers have made a video (above), a petition, and a website, LiebermanMustGo.com, to influence the senators of the Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee, who recommend committee chairmanships to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, to oust Lieberman. And today, a small handful of bloggers including representatives from DailyKos and OpenLeft.com came to Capitol Hill to personally deliver copies of the petition with 43,000 signatures to Chairwoman Sen. Debbie Stabenow of Michigan and other Democratic senators.

While 43,000 signatures isn't a huge amount by any means, Eddie Kurtz of Brave New Films admits to Whispers that the number is big for how wonky the request is. "Forty-three thousand people signed a petition to the Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee? That's kind of amazing," Kurtz says, explaining that the petition was mainly circulated via the "netroots," online grass-roots activists. Kurtz's organization created the Lieberman video and has produced other progressive videos, including one that encouraged McCain to denounce the endorsement of the Rev. Rod Parsley for making anti-Islamic remarks. McCain did.

And after they dropped off the paper copy of the petition to a surprised Stabenow aide, the big question was—what next? Their efforts wouldn't have any impact until 2009. But the bloggers said they would keep at it. "The next time Lieberman decides to throw Sen. [Barack] Obama under the bus, as he's done multiple times, we'll contact [the senators] and stay in touch," Kurtz says.

To answer "Ron's" question:

Dear Ron,

C.F.R. stands for 'Council on Foreign Relations'.

It's a Big-Boys network that meets every year under the chairmanship of someone or other (royal or not) in some place on the planet, as do the Bilderberg group.

They are all globalists that want to take us back to a form of FEUDALISM, the very thing the human race escaped from all those centuries ago when LORDS and KINGS ruled the world. It was an us and them situation. The whole thing is sponsored by people like David Rockefeller, who greatly admires the 'social system' of China and wrote about it in the 1970's. You can read his article if you dig around on the net. Then read 'MEMORANDUM 200' and you will understand what THE CFR, BILDERBERG GROUP, WORLD MONETARY FUND, WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION, and the UNITED NATIONS are REALLY all about. I'll give you a clue: THE GEORGIA STONES in ATLANTA, are inscribed with the 'ideal' population of the world as some sort of goal to work towards. This is no coincidence. It was placed there by the FREEMASONS of AMERICA, who were hijacked years ago and now speak the same language as all the above. 'Memorandum 200' was put togethet by none other than Henry Kissinger under Rockefeller's auspices. All I can say is, read on... but I can tell you now, it's all about population control and reduction, and they are using all means possible to achieve their stated aims, which they 'hide' in public view, knowing full-well that most of the public do not pay attention! That's how come you are all in IRAQ and will probably get dragged into IRAN at some future point. Read On:

The 'Lieberman Plan'

14.7.8

Dear All,

What nobody seems to have realised (English spelling!) or even thought about, is that the 'demonising' of Lieberman is part of a plan. The plan is to definitely get Barack Obama elected by swaying and playing on your emotions. Nobody likes a 'toad' in government, an obvious self-seeker; meanwhile, McCain is so far out on a limb that you have to be crazy to vote for him; when a man talks about a 100 year war, he is obviously NUTS!

So, the point: Imagine you are all 'supposed' to vote for Obama. What does that tell you? Why would someone be setting McCain up for a fall? One could already tell by the enormous field of candidates offered by the Republicans, compared to the Democrats, that there was a complicated game afoot! Of course no-one would listen 'en masse' to Ron Paul, the only sane Republican there is. He's just TOO radical, way-out, and of course, 'he'd never win'.

So, it became obvious that the so-called close-run thing between Clinton and Obama was also a put-up job; a snow job you could call it. So why would all this be going on? The answer lies in the fact that ALL the main candidates were being sponsored by more or less the same people; the big donors. Look them up and find out! Which, logically concludes that there IS NO DIFFERENCE at all between the Democrats and the Republicans.

You should all really wake up to the game you're being suckered into. If you don't think I know what I'm talking about, well, just watch "America: From Freedom To Fascism" by the late, great Aaron Russo, where it's all laid bare. Having 'suffered' British politics for 30 years, I think I know what I am talking about. Wake up America! Obama is not what he appears to be. He is what I would call the counterfoil to Bush. Bush was all outward push, but Clinton before him was all inward push, that is, wiretapping and setting up social controls whilst building the 800 concentration camps you have in your country to date. So now, it's time to go back to inward control, before the next big push outwardly. Oh IRAN is coming, but not yet! That will be the next President's task after... whorever next.

Do the world a favour and kick them all out! And then elect RON PAUL! You need another revolution in your fair Republic to straighten it all out. A Republic, by the way, is NOT a Democracy, it is a much better vehicle for public control of government, until of course, government is hijacked as yours has been. If you don't know the difference, find out.

Thank-you and Goodnight.

Lieberman

Plenty of Democrats where ready for Lieberman to go long ago. Once he began to cow-tow to everything Bush said, and became a cheerleader for the Iraq War he wasn't very well thought of anymore. That is why he is an independent right now. He was tossed out by Democrats, but got elected by CT republicans since they liked him so much.
