Holy Cow: Costas as the Next Russert?

Bob Costas
When Bob C did the "late nite" show I was so impressed with his knowlge and ability to interview with out showing bias. These interviews were very seldom sports subjects. He has amazing general knowlege .
Id say he does his homework. He doesnt ask the usual questions which get " pat "answers . He would be great on" Meet".

Costas at Meet the Press
Bob Costas has shown himself to be quite competent doing straight interviews outside of the sports world - don't forget that he was quite capable in this arena when he filled in for the late Tom Snyder on his NBC late night interview program in the late 1980s early 1990s. My one complaint is that at times he seemed in awe of his guests. I believe that in the intervening decades he has matured.
Do It NBC!!!!
Costas is the master of the long-form interview; in my opinion he's even better than Charlie Rose in that respect. Those who malign him as "just a sports guy" don't know about his absolutely encyclopedic knowlege and skill outside of the sports world. He has already shown that he is the perfect replacement for Larry King. He would ask smart questions (for a change) and give King's spot some gravitas. He probably won't get that job since he passed on interviewing Anna Nicole Smith's barber or whatever it was the last time he subbed for King. That just goes to show his integrity. I'd rather watch Costas every night, but if he doesn't get King's job, MTP would be better than letting his non-sports talent go to waste.
I approve
Gregory is terrible. Costas has always been a thoughtful interviewer. I think he'd be a great fit.
Tim Russet's Replacement
David Gregory will tank MTP. He is a light weight compared to Russert. If it were to be between Costas and Gregory, should be Costas -- hands down! That guy is good, and does his homework prior to pontificating. Cand you really say that about Gregory??????
Costas on Meet the Press
Not long ago, I heard Costas express some rabid anti-Bush sentiments that would certainly call into question his unbiased bona fides.
Costas on "Meet The Press".
Gregory in Russert's chair ---- God forbide. Folks would tolerate Costas but no talent, no mind Gregory give us a break.
Costa on Meet the Press
Sometimes I think that the thought power behind some of the NBC executive decision probably equals the size of a peacock's brain. Get serious people. Find a person that really knows and understands Washington politics.
Costas on Meet the Press
Great choice! Many times the best person for the job isn't so obvious. He definitely has the brains, the courage and the talent to pull it off and make it credible. All due respect to Gregory, whom I respect tremendously as an unbiased news anchor, I had always thought that "Mitch" (Andrea Mitchell) was a better choice until the Costas suggestion. Either way, NBC has loads of talented people to pick from.
