McCain on War in Iraq

OBSTINATE AND UNWILLING TO LISTEN:

“I DON’T KNOW AND I DON’T CARE”

I believe with all my heart and everything that's in me that if we decide to leave Iraq there will be chaos, there will be genocide and they will follow us home," McCain said. "I'm not prepared to let that happen. We cannot choose to lose. They should have let us win in Vietnam a generation ago."

What about the political consequences?

"I don't know, and I don't care," he said emphatically, repeatedly insisting that he would rather lose a campaign than lose a war.

His wife, Cindy, similarly brushes off the political consequences as she tells audiences that her husband is the only candidate she would trust to oversee the war to the end. "If we lose this race, it's not the end of the world. We have a great life; we have a great family," she said.

al franken

just what we need another comedian running for politcal office , we have enough in office already.

Al Franken

Don't ever underestimate Al Franken...he's highly intelligent, well educated and certainly versed on the issues, and has the kind of integrity that will serve Minnesota and the country well. It's high time for a change and high time for Norm Coleman to move over and make way for Al Franken.

Minnesota Race

Given his voting record, Colemam is a Bush clone and makes the race very easy for Democrats. Hard working Republicans from Minnesota know when they have been "hoodwinked" and will vote for Frankin. There are not that many ultra-rich voters around any more that benefit from Republican war crimes, Republican votes against our Vets, devaluation of our dollar or decay of the US Constitution.

If you want more of your hard earned dollars to end up in the Bush Saudi pockets go right ahead and vote Republican.

Frankin is a Democrat and Franikin will win!

James

Could the standard get any lower ?

I would have thought people would have found it hard to lower the acceptable standard for the ones they chose to give power.

I was apparently wrong.

Al Franken....

Does Minneapolis have any standards left ?Did they choose Franken becuase they realized they couldnt elect Elmer Fudd ?

Or perhaps they asked Rev Wright ,but he turned them down ?Didnt want to move or something ?

I really cant figure out exaclty how they came to this ludicrous decision. But one thing is for sure, they deserve notice for managing to lower the bar for politicians country wide.

Well done.

Coincidence, not causation

Al Franken is not a "measurement" of anything particularly important, because his run will be decided in merely one state. Of course, us Democrats would like to win that seat. But because it's an extra seatin the contest for Senate control, not because we think Franken is a guru of anything other than his former comedy.

A "BAD" night for Republicans will occur (if it does) because citizens figure out (if they do) some things about them. Like say that the Republican plan to base McCain's campaign in part on an overt attempt to paint Michelle, Melia (9) and Sasha (6) Obama as uppity ghetto people is a new low for political morals in America. It's no longer a question of whether the Republicans will "take off the gloves" to see who all they can hurt. The question is whether what few there are of them with any Christian conscience will abondon that as well as the "gloves". I predict they indeed will, and then lose badly all over the nation. But it won't be because of Al Franken.

Republicans?

Those would be the US citizens that will be thinking about moving to Canada when this years elections are over.

It will take years to fix the mess that they created and will leave behind. They will try and blame everything on the Dems but "we the people" know who's at fault.

"If Al Franken and Norm Coleman get a chance to debate each other, Coleman will get absolutely creamed. Franken's articulate and extremely well versed on the issues as well as having a great sense of humor. He's also on the right side of the issues for most all Minnesotans."

You obviously didn't see Al Franken try to explain away his comments is a Playboy article on child rape and bestiality. Yeah, Al Franken is about as articulate as Obama: when you get them from behind a microphone and ask them questions, both sound like inarticulate and unrehearsed.

Not the Party

Nothing is wrong with any party. It's all these little men who try to look big.

GOP is the Lost Party

The Republican party is bankrupt. Its current crop of Republican office holders and party elite for the most part have shown no leadership, hold no ideas, offer no history of positive accomplishment, present nothing new for America's future, have lost the confidence of the majority of Americans, including their own traditional base, and have allowed the current administration its head, regardless of the consequences for the nation and the party. This group sits idly by and watching the GOP self destruct, all the while knowing it is happening and why. The whole lot, for the most part, deserves to be thrown out of office at the first opportunity.

The GOP has lost its way and I am not the only Republican I know who feels this way. Is there a positive to the certain upcoming political wipe-out? I think so. When these guys lose office, when the GOP all but disappears from the corridors of power, then perhaps there will arise a new crop of Republicans, by whatever name, persons of political integrity, new blood to replace the old heads who squandered the Republican legacy.
