Washington Whispers by Paul Bedard

McAuliffe Ends His Caddyshack Role

One of the great things about playing golf with a former president, says Terry McAuliffe, Bill Clinton's longtime pal, is that he no longer has to lose on purpose. Better yet, Clinton can't cheat as much. He tells us that the duo still golfs a lot. And now McAuliffe wins. Not to rub it in, but he says he's won four of their last four games. "That's what happens when you are a former president," he says. Bubba was famous for taking mulligans, but McAuliffe also suggests that U.S. Secret Service agents would toss an errant Clinton ball onto the fairway.
