The Washington Post: "President Bush vowed yesterday to veto a Democratic plan to rescue hundreds of thousands of homeowners at risk of foreclosure, charging that the measure would 'reward speculators and lenders' while doing little to ease the nation's mortgage crisis."

The Wall Street Journal: "Differences between the White House and Democrats in Congress over proposed housing-market legislation aren't 'insurmountable,' one of the administration's top economic advisers said Wednesday."

American Banker: "Though the House was on track to approve legislation this week designed to stem foreclosures, there were doubts about the bill's ability to make a dent in housing woes and even about its odds of enactment."

AP, from the New York Daily News: "The state Assembly passed legislation Wednesday to impose a one-year delay on foreclosures when New York homeowners default on mortgage payments, while the Senate was poised to consider a related measure backed by Gov. David Paterson."

Housing Wire: "Foreclosure rates in Massachusetts continued to hit new record levels during the first quarter, a report from statewide foreclosure data provider ForeclosuresMass.com said on Wednesday."
