Peretz Does Darfur
For a chuckle, check out Marty Peretz’s post from Monday titled: “Not ‘Never Again!’ But ‘Yes, Again and Again and Again’.” That, gentle reader, is the sound of The New Republic editor-in-chief’s self love.

Marty Peretz
Marty is quite the character. Self-important and supremely overconfident, his stewardship of The New Republic is most notably defined by his uberbearing support of Israel. His chief nemisis, Eric Alterman, makes the case that Marty traces all of his foreign policy positions to Israel. In Darfur's case, he supports doing something lest the US start going isolationist and proceeds to stop supporting Israel. His knee jerk support of the Iraq war likely forced him to sell control of the magazine. The new owners share his Israel views, so he is allowed to continue with his usual blather on the Spine where he can be avoided by online readers weary of his tirades.
