Hardly suprising

You have to wonder, what will they do when they don't have Muslims and gays to make their scapegoats for everything (I'm assuming one day they won't). The party really will be lost in the wilderness then.

More important things to do?

Non-ideological, as here discribed, is a euphamism for disengaged and civicly irresponsible. People have better things to do than ponder the role of their government? Like what? What is more important when you consider what government is capable of, particularily when the people aren't pondering its role?

Republicans

Robert - You should wear a Democrat party pin. It is TOO obvious where your sympathies are.

ApostasyUSA of CA

spoken like a true loon from the bankrupt capital of the country.. just add a few more gays, mor illegals, mix it up, you end up with YOU.. at least the rest of the state has seen that they are tired of paying for low life libbers

usa is non idealogical

robert you are smoking your socks boy..turn them inside out maybe your brain will start to function, where did you go to college? aunt mamies shcool for dips?

obama the great myth

Who ever voted for obama and went to college, should as for a refund, you were not taught to think, just how to be lead by the blind..i have yet to find 1 liberal with an idea that reduces govt size and reach, why is that? I say cause they are lame metally

well said!

"So to the extent that Republicans think that rigid ideological commitment will solve their problems, they're going to be in trouble."

Nice.....now prepare for the "They are going to take your money/guns away", fear mongering campaign rehashed over and over for the last 20 years. Please....

Leading and governing a country is far more than just tax and guns opinion. Republicans preferred a government that governs the least, and by those standards that's exactly what America got for the last 8 years.

Either way....Obama was not the problem. It was the absolute willful incompetence of the GOP'ers, conservatives and Republicans while they were in power, who even now, deny their involvement in the most cursory Republican leadership this country has ever witnessed.

In the last 8 years or so Republicans have shown me that they will do anything and everything in their power to keep you from retaining an opinion based on the facts that their incompetence is comprised of.

I'm going to do everything I can to see that Republicans LOSE in the next elections. I mean across the board, state legislatures to the White House, there is no longer a place for Republicans in the world I want to live in. The Republican of today is an indefensible talking point repeating polarizer of nations, which in my mind no longer deserves quarter. Old dogs don't learn new tricks.

abandoned

The illogic of trusting Government to an anti-government party is obvious and yet conservatives have no problem with that. The long and horrible historical record of Religious entanglement with Governments is clear and yet conservatives have no problem with that. Bankrupting a nation/empire to pay mercenaries to fight its wars has happened many times at yet conservatives will applaud tax cuts and deficit spending to finance military adventurism. The silence of conservatives while Bush destroyed the country speaks volumes. Real conservatives wouldn't have wrapped themselves in the false flag of "patriotism" and kept quiet. Real conservatives have demonstrated their moral bankruptcy. Why do Republicans hate America and its ideals?

the other 6?

I guess this poll shows that 6 out of 10 Republicans are still idiots!

Liberal Democracy is what this country IS!!!

Just because the U.S. is a republic does not make it any less liberal. This country is based on western liberal ideals. All the liberty that Republicans (who call themselves conservative) champion is a liberal idea, not a conservative one. I propose that there are NO conservatives in this country. There are levels of tolerance that the media likes to categorize into two little boxes called liberal and conservative. And contrary to popular opinion there is such thing as too much tolerance. There is no such thing as a true "conservative" in this country. It is not our culture.
