Steele Shoots at Gay Marriage!

Re: "Now all of a sudden I've got someone who wasn't a spouse before, that I had no responsibility for, who is now getting claimed as a spouse that I now have financial responsibility for... So how do I pay for that? Who pays for that? You just cost me money." - GOP Chairman Michael Steele

Hmmm... The GOP's attempt to rally anti-gay sentiment with healthcare is repugnant. Almost all businesses providing healthcare only pay a portion of employee coverage and no part of dependent coverage, spouse or children. A spouse, male or female, makes absolutely no difference!

All freaks unite

Actually; people, get over it. There are real subjects of interest that our country should be paying attention to. Butt rustlers and hedge trimmers, are not really important to every day people. They are a joke, a thing of entertainment. This whole subject is a bad comedy act, waiting to be over. Since they think they don't have anyone to answer to, but everyone else must pay attention to them, they have made our lives less than open, because freaks are always in the way, trying to show everyone else how we must accept them. Life is more than a bunch of flitting fireflies. Now that they are flitting around our legislative bodies, ruing votes for decency, it is a politically incorrect thing, to ignore or openly brand them. I don't want them around me, or my precious grandchildren. They can unite, but it will never be marriage. Find them an island somewhere, and let them get lost. GOD will have a clearer shot, like Sodom and Gomorrah.Mainstream America is tired of the entire mess. Another suggestion for you. Let them go and register for the Miss America Pageant. That frontier has been opened to them by a fellow freak. DisappointedDemocrat

michael steele and any topic

I hate to say this, but the republican party just voted in the only black guy in the room as their leader in order to try to score points with non-white americans. Well, its backfiring because mr. steele has no clear-cut message and is quite the lackluster speaker. He is trying to throw anything at the wall in hopes that something will stick.

It is a shame that the GOP is not legitimately interested in what americans of all backgrounds are concerned about. They have cornered themselves into their base issues: gays, guns and abortion. Frankly, with rush ranting on and on, then Dick Cheney spewing out his vile on the air waves, i don't see how they can get themselves out without major self-inflicted injuries.

Gay marriage, its not a matter of if, it is a matter of when.

Small Business at risk

My wedding cost over $10,000 and almost all that money went into the pockets of small businesses. As does the money I spend on dinner and movie tickets. So, Mr. Steele, perhaps you should re-examine the benefits of gays to small business.

If marriage is religion based, why is the government involved?

Because all the religious folk are claiming that marriage is based on religion and our constitution says that we may "make no law respecting an establishment of religion" then the government should immediately stop sanctioning marriage.

The true irony here is the fact that there are already hundreds if not thousands of churches that will happily marry gay couples. It is only the government that is lagging behind the times.
