Republican Media Conspiracy Theorists Go Nuts Over New York Times and Sarah Palin

By Robert Schlesinger, Thomas Jefferson Street blog

I just finished writing up a fascinating interview on conspiracy theories (it'll appear in this week's digital edition), so this tidbit from GOP12 seems particularly on target: The right-wing media-paranoical complex are getting worked up over a New York Times hit piece against Sarah Palin.

They're not apparently slowed by the fact that the piece has not been published. And may not even exist at all. But the Times is writing it, so it must be part of an anti-Palin conspiracy, right?

From GOP12:

Some of Sarah Palin's closest supporters online are beating their breasts over a New York Times reporter who, while in Alaska, asked Sarah Palin a question about her national ambitions at a press conference.

(No word on whether the Times reporter asked the question from behind a grassy knoll.)

To Gary

"All you have to do is read the transcript of the Couric interview to see what she did to Gov. Palin. Then Couric receives the "Cronkite Award" for "excellence in journalism" for this hatchet job. PATHETIC. Do I even need to mention the blatant cheerleading, and cover-up job the media did for Barack?"

1. I did look at the transcripts; I still think her question was a simple one - tell me; what about the question on "supreme court rulings" or "newspapers/maagazines do you read" to Sarah Palin are "a hatchet job".

2. Obama gets his share of grief; even from Ms. Palin - she dishes it out and can't take it in return. She makes comments about who is and isn't a real citizen based on political "free choice" or location; or advanced degrees - who the heck is she? Wakeup; when you point a finger at someone, 3 point back at you.

Palin no Sotomayor

When I look at Sotomayor calmly taking some stupid questions from Republicans and repeatedly harping on her comment - I think about what Palin would have done if Lindsey Graham asked her if she was a "bully" (Was that question asked of other men who were being vetted for the Supreme Court?). The difference between Sotomayor and Palin is Sotomayor has confidence in her self and ability to lead; Ms. Palin does not and therefore falls into the poor me antics to get attention. And the sad thing, is many of my fellow citizens in the US suck up to the behavior -
