Where's the Criticism of the Permanent Barack Obama Campaign? Clinton Got It, and Bush Too

January 26, 2009 11:00 AM ET | Robert Schlesinger | Permanent Link | Print

By Robert Schlesinger, Thomas Jefferson Street blog

I don't as a general rule go in for the liberal media conspiracy meme (unlike, say, Sam), but I am struck at the coverage regarding Organizing for America, the campaign-style effort (first reported, incidentally, in Washington Whispers by my colleague Paul Bedard when it was called Obama 2.0) housed in the DNC and aimed at maintaining the grass-roots movement that swept Obama into White House. Bill Clinton, and to a lesser extent George W. Bush, were criticized for establishing a permanent campaign mentality in the White House. Not so much Obama. I suspect that it's because 16 years later we're used to it; and it may be that once we get more than a week into the Obama administration, criticism of the White House's grass-roots campaign arm will increase. But at the moment the silence is striking.

zelaya

It's over obama. Polls lowest to date. Tea parties bigger than ever. Palin pursuing presidemcy. And your support for Zelaya and Chaves has made it clear you are a soon to be forgotten big ass mistake. I'll say it you are an evil man and the jedis are returning to power whether you like it or not.

Gates on Afganastan

Relieced to read that Secterary Gates favors LIMITED GOALS for U.S. in Afganastan, atherth thabn to change them to a democracy! THEY HAVE BEEN FIGHTING FOR OVR ONE THOUSAND YEARS AND THE RUSSIANS LOST THOUSANDS OF MEN BEFOR GIVING UP."GO AFTER ALQUIDA " SHOULD BE THE ONLY GOAL AS THE SECRETARY STATED.

Sober up

Time to give up the anger and decompress from the intense brainwashing over the last 8 years. Bush is not Satan and Obama is not the Messiah. Awe and Disdain are emotion, not viable, intellectual analyses of a US President’s job performance. Although Bush made mistakes, he had incredible challenges during his Presidency. To not recognize his accomplishments as well as his failures is childish and selfish… and sadly speaks volumes as to our instant gratification and, frankly, spoiled society. Not to mention the inept mainstream media. Obama will have challenges as well and only time will tell how he will fair.

And to the Bush Bashing “worst US President” chanters, sorry but that honor to me has already been bestowed upon Mr. Jimmy Carter. His one-term disastrous Presidency has now faded from memory and sugar-coated. Hopefully, once reality hits and the sheep sober up or have the guts to break from the herd, time will be as kind to George Bush.
