Arthur M Schlesinger, Jr
Hi, I just finished reading (if not digesting) your dad's journal. It left me wondering what he would have thought of how events have turned out, and feeling a bit lonely knowing the world had lost a man who combined such steadfastness, insight, kindness and pragmatism. I am so glad I have found your article. Thank you. I miss your dad too.

How Sweet!
Socialist father like socialist son! But seriously, I am familiar with some of the historian Arthur Schlesinger's works and the idea of 'cycles of reform' every 30-years or so is thought-provoking and interesting. Many of the reforms of the 1930s and 1960s were beneficial to a degree. Perhaps the "change" in Obama's campaign and the fallout from the financial crisis with seemingly everyone angry at the market (while ignoring the government's culpability in creating the mess) may lead to some fundamental shifts. However, each movement has its excesses and weaknesses, if the reformers reform to fast, the pro-market right will make a return in very short order!
A good example
It's nice to see that even socialists love their dads.
