American Economics
Our economic problems have become worse because we have disregarded the idea that the goose that lays the golden eggs in our democracy is called free enterprise capitalism with competition....we have been forced into accepting cartels and monopolies into our economic system and now the the taxpayers are being asked to pay the bill...congress as well as the president has done little to turn the situation around it is time to ask congress to use the anti trust laws to break up this vicious cycle.....we need to go back to american free enterprise capitalism with competition and away from fascist cartels....and monopolies.....
It Just Seals the Deal, GWB One of Worst Presidents in History
The latest calamity is just icing on one Bush disaster after another, and Bush's place in history is being sealed. Anyone who ever supported Bush should now have no doubt of the incompetence in the White House, that the rest of us have been complaining about right along.
Unfortunately it looks like we're going to be paying for Bush's errors for a long, long time.
Right, he had help
From the 12 years of Republican controlled Congress.
Remember, GWB did not veto a single spending bill until the Democrats won a 1 seat majority in the Senate and a majority in the House that was insufficient to overide a veto.
Drill, baby, drill is nothing compared to the 7 plus years of spend, baby, spend.
DAMNED IF YOU DO....OR DON'T
I don't care much for President Bush, but I think it unfair to drop this current mess on his doorstep alone.
With regard to past crisis' I suspect if he had done nothing he would have been regarded as a, well.... "Do Nothing President"
In fact the blame lies with all of us; Home buyers who wanted houses they couldn't afford and believed it was no problem because home prices would double the following year and that would save them. Bankers who loaned on last years tax returns and FICA scores instead of the equity produced through a down-payment. And, politicians, none of whom wanted to be the first to call for the merry music and euphoria to stop.
I just hope everyone stops pointing fingers and starts trying to figure out answers before we all have to start figuring out which soup line has the most meat in the pot and which bridge looks the best to seek shelter under or jump off of.
