Play it Off Obama
Obama was playing it cool when he hesitated and covered his eyes while making his "lipstick on a pig comment". He knew what he was doing and saying. His biography list his profession as both an atty and lecturer. Both these professions require analytical skills. For Obama to make such a statement was at best poor judgment/timing and at worst an intentional blow.
His sexist remark, (yes, sexist as most men do not wear lipstick), came much too soon after Palin's Republican National Convention speech. After all, Palin's famous lipstick joke was plastered all over the media...Did Obama not notice this? If he didn't, I certainly do not want him standing watch over the USA. Perhaps it was just another gaffe on his part like the 57 states in the U.S. that he made mention of, or his "Islamic faith". Maybe he should adopt Britney's Spears, "Opps, I Did It Again" as his new campaign theme song. At any rate, when Obama's bad choice of words was offensive to some, he neither met said offense with remorse nor apology. Instead he angrily points the finger elsewhere i.e., the GOP. Well, Mr. Obama, you wouldn't get my vote after your arrogant and abusive, "Spare me the phony outrage" statement. It may sound cute to your party, but it's not a partisan thing with me so much as a gender bias coupled with your compassionless attitude towards those you've offended. Futhermore the way you play things off damage your credibility to those who are more intelligent than you give us credit for.

Spade meaning 'a black person' is far more recent; it is first found in the early twentieth century. It derives from the black color of the suit of spades in a deck of playing cards.
Clearly our expression to call a spade a spade was very well established long before the word spade had any racial sense. However, today the word does have a racial sense. If the expression is assumed to be offensive, it should be used with caution even if there's no real basis for the assumption. This is not an unusual event. The word bloody, for example, does not derive from a profane oath such as "by our lady," but that's what people thought, and the word was considered quite offensive. The incorrect etymological assumption did not change the word's offensiveness. Few people today would object to call a spade a spade, but some people might, and one should at the very least be aware of that.

Charing rape victime for test kits
Of course this issue of Wasilla, AK charging victims of rape for these kits while Palin was its mayor is a "small" issue in an election that ought to be about truly "big" themes such as two wars we are trying to conduct, and the implosion of our financial system. However, since the R.s are so bent on distracting the campaign from truly national and important issues, with identity-politics tactics, I think it would be a good strategy to point out that Palin as the person with executive reponsibility of Wasilla at that time, utterly failed to correct this poor policy decision that the police chief SHE installed had made. When she harps on about being a 'reformer' we really can't blindly accept that she will truly correct or reform anything in a manner that makes sense.
Soccer Mom, Lipstick, Pitbull
The "lipstick on a pig" frenzy is a welcome diversion to an otherwise boring presidential race. Just remember, Dems, a couple more months of this silliness and you lose.

I think she is an example of a "true woman"; true to her beliefs, true to her family, true to God,whom she believes in, and true to the people of Alaska whom she has been governing very well, thank you!! She is a breath of fresh air!!! She is a woman who didn't decide to murder her unborn child because it was known to have Down's Syndrome, she made her choice of LIFE!! Down's Syndrome children can be wonderful children, very loving and caring. They need to have parents that really want them to have a full life and be all that they can be. I have worked with them in programs and know of some who are now taking college classes!! When Sarah Palin mentioned the Pit Bull and the lipstick it was supposed to be a joke about soccer moms.What are all these lies that Sarah is supposed to be telling, that's not what the people of Alaska attest to!!! I think you need to get your facts straight! If you really want to know what Obama is all about, read The Obama Nation. This is a book researched over several years backed up by many people who know the facts about Obama, people who have known him over the last 25 yrs. These are facts he has tried to hide by not really talking about those particular things in his life!! Change is not always a good thing!! Stupidity
The campaign manager for McCain is a Karl Rove trainee. And Obama's campaign is allowing them to dictate this recent campaign strategy. What is it? Treating voters as stupid people who will vote based on the last idiotic TV commercial they saw. don't like being called stupid? Then go to the candidates web sites, the procon wesite, and others and study the candidate's stances on the issues. Then make up your mind. And remind the candidates, if the opportunity presents itself, that you don't appreciate their insults of your intelligence.
